What in blazes is a Snipe Guard

I'm trying to start my first WW auction and I'm looking at other ones as examples and most of them have snipe guards but I have exactly zero idea what that even is, and I can't find an explanation anywhere lol.

Nice Google says 'A snipe guard basically means the auction will be extended by x amount of time until the bidding stops; for example, an auction could end at 10:00pm and the snipe guard is 1 hour.'

Yes, it's to prevent last second bids. Every new bid in the last x minutes of an auction triggers the snipe guard. Bids that happen in the snipe guard time refreshes the guard.

Well, I have come across the odd auction (on Flight Rising) when it's a one time only snipe guard but those are rare. Usually it's as I described above. :)
