This might not be a super popular suggestion in terms of ease of playing, but I feel that currently recipes are a bit too common for a single use per account kind of functionality. Even more so given the fact that Marvin loves to throw them at our faces every 6 hours.
Additionally, we need more use for pebbles. I don't think I need to go into detail on this, as there are already many suggestions and concerns with more detail and explanation on why the current economy is not healthy. Long story short: we need more desirable pebble sinks.
An idea that popped into my head as a way to kill two birds with one stone is the following:
The actual crafting of an item uses up the recipe. So it's not that you need to learn the recipe once (by applying it to the account) but rather it is an ingredient for the crafting*.
Ofcourse getting only a single craft from an item would be a bit too extreme, but perhaps for material-like recipes (leather strips for example) you can get 25 uses before the recipe breaks, and for apparel you get 5 uses. (Just pulling random numbers out of thin air again, just trying to demonstrate that because materials need to be crafted more often so those recipes should last longer).
Perhaps as you level up in crafting, you'll be able to squeeze more crafts out of a recipe in terms of efficiency or something. And I'm sure Miss Mac could also play some sort of fun and interactive role with this type of functionality.
I reckon prices for some of the recipes might need to be adjusted in this case, and perhaps the stock in the MM should be increased to accomodate for the extra usage as well.
And maybe an additinal feature could be that, once you've learned a recipe once, with some of the right ingredients and some pebbles you can craft a new recipe (so as to not be wholly dependant on the stock of the MM) I guess for the ease of instantly getting the recipe (instead of waiting for the right stock) perhaps the pebbles required to craft the recipe could be slightly higher than the recipe prices in the MM
*This wouldn't go for bonepaste and moonstones for obvious reasons
TDLR:
- Recipes are not single use and learned forever
- Instead a single recipe can be used a couple of times before it breaks and a new recipe is required to craft an item
- Material item recipes last longer than apparel recipes
- This breakage doesn't happen for bonepaste and moonstone recipes
- Once a recipe has been used/learned/obtained at least once, you will earn the ability to craft that recipe in exchange for some fitting items and pebbles (to avoid dependance on MM stocking the right things) Crafting the recipe will be slightly more expensive though.
- Prices and stock of recipes would need to be adjusted to accomodate for this change
- Leveling up in crafting should award some sort of efficiency to make recipes last longer
So let me know what you think of this idea. Horrible? Promising?
