With how the MM currently works it can be incredibly frustrating to find the right item, especially recipes for mining equipment. Doubly so considering you can only get those in the MM. However, I'm also worried about how this will scale with the site's growth. I feel we're already seeing negative ramifications with the new items released with the launch. If the system remains the same throughout this will only get worse and worse. Yes, the flea market and asking on the Discord is an option, but I don't feel like that should be the solution. That depends on player generosity, availability, and social interaction, which is not always what a person wants out of a pet sim experience.
Currently, I have a few ideas that could help with this. Honestly, I don't think any one of these is a ‘cure-all’ on its own, and the best solution may entail multiple:
- Add more inventory slots to each shop category. The most obvious one, but IMO, a needed one.
- Add an option to reroll item listings at a price. Maybe make it like with hunting, five refreshes for pebbles, and resets at rollover. Of course, this shouldn't affect the free item timer and should be more costly than hunting's charge.
- Quicker automated shop refreshes. Personally, I don't feel like this would help on its own, and it begs the question of how to handle the free item timer. Even if it stays the same it may be confusing to have two separate timers?
- Add more shop categories. Really with this one, all I can imagine is separating clothing recipes and profession recipes into their own category in the shop, that way there's a cycling of both types.
All of this would make things ‘easier’ but considering that mining recipes are incredibly important for progression and the MM is the only place you can get them, I don't think it's too egregious to ask for. As well as the general issue of scaling with all items. Crafting materials, specific cooking ingredients, seeds, etc. The more items this game gets, the more frustrating this issue will get if not resolved.
