Idk how it works but... why is it so hard to win?

The pageant is where everybody votes for somebody else's wolf...People will usually vote for the wolf that catches their eye, so if you get enough votes, you could get podium and win some prizes. Yeah, it can be kinds hard.

Is there anything anyone wants to add on to this?

Hello! I noticed you are a newer user, it can be pretty difficult when you're a new user or someone who doesn't sell Custom Apparel. A lot of the time the wolves with matching CA take the cake, and the CA are pretty pricey. Although it can also depend on the grouping you're in, there are some users I've noticed tend to vote based on the actual wolf, disregarding CA in their decision!

I also peeked at your den, and noticed you have a female Volmyr extremely similar to my girl Periwinkle! I had only held onto her because she's too pretty to release, and haven't gotten to taking the time to sell her yet. But if you would be willing to give her a happy home, I'd let you take her free of charge c: Don't feel pressured to take her, I just thought I would offer! Here she is:

i won 3rd place once with a naked progen when i got super lucky and like 10 wolves got tied for it, and i won 2nd place once with my amazing bee themed wolf wearing ca wings who's honestly the best wolf on the website and deserved first place, tied with and losing to some typical matchy wolves decked out in pretty custom apparel

people like the shiny expensive stuff. i could theoretically get a wolf like that myself too but that's just so much not my cup of tea lol

I definitely win the most with wolves decked out in matching CA (see: Oregano) so I try my best to not submit wolves with CA more than once a month, or keep track of which CA'd wolf I submitted so I don't submit them again. I do sometimes win with otherwise "unique" wolves, like my 5x emerald kit who got 2nd. No apparel, not a single piece, but people liked him being just one solid color. Anything to stand out against the rest. I think I win 2nd or 3rd once a month, 1st about 5 times total since I joined in May (one of which doesn't count because I joined the last day of the week and so everyone got 1st that week), but the vast majority of pageants, I don't place at all.

Lately I've personally been varying how I vote for pageants to help spread out votes a bit. Sometimes I theme it- are there a bunch of yellow wolves in this week's pageant? I'll vote for the yellows. Are there a few with specifically merle accent or under? I'll make that week a merle week. I usually make my first vote for whoever I like most, and then vote based on some trivial thing that's easily accessible for everyone on site. At this point, I don't try to win, I just submit a wolf I haven't submitted before and see what happens with them.

I've had wolves covered in matching CA win and also not place high enough. Just depends who is voting that week in your grouping

Maybe the real prize was the shards we made along the way.

(Honestly, I just vote to get my shards, and if I win anything, which I oftentimes don't, then it's just a surprise bonus.)

I usually vote on the prettiest coat, not necessarily CAs! I did win twice so far, none of my wolves have CAs. :)

Currently, the winning probability in the pageant if you are not sending in a Wolf with CAs is very low. It doesn't have always been like that, and I'm sure it won't always be.

What we've seen in the past is :

- People with pretty wolf and CA wolf, voting for the least pretty wolf in the list to "help" their own place well. It fired back pretty fast as these least pretty wolves started to win consistently. When you are not voting for your favorite wolf but against the one that could win, that's what happens.

- Wolves with CAs won so much that people who can't afford them started to only vote for naked wolves out of spite. That worked. And I feel for a time we've seen fewer wolves with CAs.

Sometimes, when you enter your wolf in the pageant on your first vote day, you know exactly who will win. For example, in my group this week, I can say exactly what wolves will be on the podium. Because that week there are one or multiple wolves that are THAT special.

Since the introduction of CAs I'm convinced there should be multiple pageants categories.
