How do you guys get so many Wild Wolves?

Hello,

I'm bringing back again the Wild Wolf topic. I know it has been talked about many times, but recently, I've started to ask myself what's the difference between people who get a lot of WW and people who get close to none.

For example, since launch I have only brought home 2 WW, they were in before the Knuckle bones update. Since that update, I've got none and only got 1 from KBs hunt. How is that? Some people seem to be swimming in WW. I know I'm playing LW casually before and after work (and more on my days off) but my result shouldn't be this low. I know I could get one from the flea market or pay someone to get one for me, but where is the fun in that? I want to play LW not having someone play LW for me.

So, what are you guys doing different? Are you hunting WW 24/7? Do you use automation? Or is there some secret sauce in the backend, defining WW "luck"?

If you refresh the page after every encounter, you skip the battle making campaigning significantly faster

But honestly I just have a radio of 2:1 pebble generator/xp generator and passively train fodder to level 10 of the knuckles. It takes a while but it is a guaranteed knuckle WW every 1-2 weeks depending how many fodder wolves you have going at a time.

Just make sure you have the 2:1 ratio I mentioned so you don't have to pay out of pocket

(this is a decent money making strat if you don't care about WW, but I think pure pebble generator companions might be better)

I have a quite a few WW that were befriended the first month of full release. Personally, I believe successful encounters have been nerfed because we all went so hard on it then. Ever since, the success rate, and even the encounter rate itself, has been steadily dropping. If feels like now you can't get anything unless it's from the FM. I've had 1 successful WW encounter in four months. Pretty abysmal. It's so bad I don't even bother anymore. I feel fortunate to have nabbed the ones I did when I could.

Having a lot of time on my hands, a lot of food points to waste, and the willingness to hit the refresh button over and over for a long time while staying attentive to it gives me a good amount of WWs. One kit and a zapscour can defeat the 4th area enemies except the bosses (and the furmus sometimes), and you can typically get enough moths in a stamina bar to sustain yourself that way.

Some days I get lucky and it feels like I'm rolling in encounters. Other days I can go well over ten, twenty stamina bars before getting a single encounter.

If you're willing to waste the food points on refreshing every encounter except wild wolves, I suggest doing so in Murkwood 4. The wild wolf screen is green toned as opposed to every other encounter being red toned, so I can catch myself before refreshing over WW encounters easier there than other areas.

I also have three dens designated solely for passively training wolves for knucklebones. The vast majority of my knucklebones come from training, not campaign.

I can't speak about anything back at launch because I know nothing about that but as far as now goes- Pretty much second what Foxriddles said. 1 wolf + 1 max level zapscour can beat almost everything.-some exceptions. Getting a lot of wild wolves isn't easy though and most likely to happen if you're camped for hours every day refreshing past battle sequences. The successful befriended ww vs a failed knucklebone token is really random. I've had dry streaks of getting 100+ kbs with no friends. I also had a time where I caught 6 friends within the span of a half hour. Never know how unlucky or lucky you'll be.

Hi :)

I managed to get my WW during the starting rush. Honestly I sent all day long for a few days grinding the scenarios.

I stopped when my husband got mad and told me to relax. Then I have just been buying the ones I like off the market !

Just by playing. I usually get 1 WW encounter per energy bar, so I get a fair amount of Knucklebones from that, and I can usually get enough for a WW hunt every 2 or so weeks, though I have reduced my play time lately and I'm not checking in every 4 hours like I used to, so my rates have dropped a bit

Sometimes if I'm running low on bones I'll drop a couple extra energy bars into exploring and that can help, and occasionally I'll get a successful encounter, but I'd say a solid half of the WWs I've gotten since Knucklebones were introduced have been from them

I did grind like mad during the days immediately following the full launch to get as many 4 digits as possible, so that definitely padded out my WW numbers. I spent basically 3 days straight doing nothing but grinding

I don't really understand what you mean by training and the relation to WW? Do you mean doing a campaign to lvl up wolves from LvL 1 to LvL 10? If you mean that, yes, I've witnessed recently by bringing all my wolves to lvl 10 that for a time, I met a lot more WW. But it seems to have dried out.

For Knuckle bones, I've never been a fan of it. As a casual player, it didn't change anything to the WW problem. I understand why grinders like them because they get a guarantee WW regularly. But for casual player? WW is still a pain to just meet, so getting 50 kb is a chore. Since May, so nearly 6 months, I only managed to get one. I don't know anymore if I should do more than the explore daily quests.

Every is having difficulties with WW it seems. So, I guess I should just buy WW from the market then. pfff as I said I just wanted to play LW and more and more things feel or too hard to achieve or pointless. Just buying things doesn't feel the same.

@DerpFox Training as in leveling a wolf to 10 and releasing it. You get a knucklebone and 10,000 pebbles when you release a level 10 wolf. It's just very unrewarding and either time-intensive to get to level 10 if you freely level through XP-giving companions, or food-intensive if you grind levels in the campaign. If you designate a lot of den space to passively leveling wolves, then when they hit level 10 (usually around the same time) it's a nice payout of the tokens.
