an overwhelming 12/22 of you are a maybe/yes to wanting to be an elf!

I will post an elf app along with the signup form.. while I'd love to let everyone who wants to be an elf be one, we most likely do not need that many elves so I will go over apps and select a few elves to help out. if you arent chosen as an elf this year, you can always re-apply next year!

Based on the above responses, for this year..

elves will be sending out gifts & tiers minimums will be 50kp, 25ms, & 50ms. there will also be a separate WW exchange option. you may enter a tier AND the WW exchange if you'd like to or you can just enter one or the other

I want to address a few concerns about things that were brought up :)

1. I'd advise gifts sent out before Dec 23-25 as folks might get busy with family unexpectedly and send out late gifts out of no choice of their own

for this, since elves will be sending out gifts, people just need to make sure they send their gift to their elf by the cutoff date (which will be either Dec 20 or 21 LW time). if an elf thinks they have a problem sending out the 23-25, we can discuss it and they can either send early or send to another elf if needed to make sure nobody gets a late gift. people can submit their gift to their elf on the same say they are assigned if they choose to do so (that happens on FR sometimes too!)

2. If there ends up being an odd number of people signing up, I'd be more than happy to add in an extra gift to compensate.

this is a lovely offer, thank you! people will not be gifting the same person who is sending their gift though, it is a completely randomized exchange so Person A will gift Person B, Person B will gift Person C, etc and whoever is at the bottom of the list will gift Person A :)

3. i like the idea of elves so we can remain anon :)

I forgot to mention remaining anonymous is an option! with elves you can choose to be revealed or remain anonymous

4.Making a list of users willing to be a backup Santa might be good, just incase anyone doesn't hand in their gift.

I will be implementing this suggestion, but we shouldnt need it! with elves sending gifts out, that means that if Person B doesnt turn in a gift, Person A's gift (who was supposed to gift Person B) will be used towards finding a gift for Person B's person. This means the elves may sell the items in the gift or trade them for items on that person's wishlist so they get a gift picked out just for them!

5. what happens if something comes up and we cant send our gift?

as long as you let your elf know ASAP, nothing! we will reassign the person who was gifting you to gift the person you were supposed to gift instead. if you just do not send a gift, there is the chance that you will not be allowed to participate in the future. you also will not receive a gift if you do not send one in.

6. I would say to have a "reminder" notification before the 21st (probably a week before?) just in case someone signed up and forget. That way there's less chance of an "OOPS! I forgot, have this cheap gift :)"

we will definitely have a check-in or 2! most likely one weekly (the 7th, 15th, then another the day before gifts are due & on the due date).

I am currently working on the rules, joining form, etc and will have it posted within the next few days I hope or by Monday at the very latest!
