Iâm not sure Iâm understanding the problem.
Using percentages like this isnât incorrect, nor is it exclusive to LW.
If the text says âx%â faster, then it is added on. As an example, say a wolf can travel 1m/s, â200% fasterâ would be 3m/s. â1000% fasterâ would be 11m/s.
EDIT: So if we pretend the above rate was real and use your example:
800% faster would mean 9m/s.
If the Growling Grotto is 600m, standard speed would take 600 seconds, aka 10 minutes. Now, at 9m/s, it would take a little over a minute and six seconds, which is 800% faster.
WoW has mounts that have designated speeds, as an example. Ground mounts are 60%/100% faster, which means they multiply the standard movement speed by 1.6 and 2. Flying mounts are 150%/310%, which means they multiply the standard movement speed by 2.5 and 4.1.
Unless Iâm misunderstanding the proposal?
EDIT: Of course, if you want it simplified, that is okay too. But 800% faster =/= 8 times. You have to factor in the base, so it would be 9 times. Percentages arenât wrong, but if people would find it easier to read multipliers, it doesnât affect me.
