Single Layer Besprinkler

This was briefly mentioned in a suggestion 5+ months ago, so I thought I'd make a new thread for it with the idea in full since myself and multiple people actively hunting Wild Wolves really want this:

A single layer besprinkler item

Why ?

Catching Wild Wolves is currently one of the remaining driving forces this site has besides CA in terms of what sells. However, catching them can be incredibly hard / time consuming / and SUCKS when you get the perfect one....except the Accent is way off tone. If we could besprinkle a single layer, imagine how many WWs could be saved from release if we can fix their one single off tone layer.

How ?

1. The item costs 100 MS, it's obviously going to be a high ticket item, as it should be, in my opinion - more than the all layer besprinkler. You can buy and trade as many of them as you'd like.

OR

2. The item costs 50 MS, you can only buy one ONCE a week, and it cannot be traded

OR

3. (suggested by acinonyx) Introduced during a time-limited event to test the waters

I think either of these options would stabilize the demand for the use of the item while still appealing to the associated buyers (people who sell and trade WWs) or the occasional buyer who might want to try out this item on a wolf they've been holding onto. I think this item can revive some aspects of the WW market without crashing it, and it still relies on the user to try and find good WWs...but they might be releasing less of them and utilizing more of them. In reality, this site has a lot of color tones and a lot of layers on a single wolf; the option to besprinkle a single layer can help users feel better about their catches that were just near misses.

Any feedback is appreciated, no worries if the idea is not to your liking <3 I like seeing everyone's opinion on things !

Support! I also think it’s a great idea for a high ticket item. Even if it did need to be harder to obtain a large quantity of them, just the item existing would give me (and I’m guessing a lot of others) a perpetual thing to save for. Which, I think it should be rather difficult to obtain something like that myself, it could cause pandemonium somehow lol. Like, maybe limiting the amount a user is able to obtain and making them non-transferable, so players who already have tons of funds and wolves built up won’t be able to jump on it and flood the market immediately. I personally have many wild wolves that I’ve kept/bought in hopes of either getting something like this, or being able to cover it somehow one day

Sorry, but no support! This would make it too easy to get someone's perfect/dream WW and triples/quads/yahtzees (5 of a kind!). That's what makes nice wolves valuable, they are totally RNG based and everyone has an equal chance to get nice WW (regular besprinklers dont really count because those are for if someone is concerned about the ID/date). This would make it even more pay to win than implementing the ability to buy a custom g1 IMO

No support. Sorry.

ETA: It's okay to want this item, and it is okay to not want this item! This thread is for opinions on this particular suggestion. Please don't get hostile towards those who don't share the same opinion as you. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having differing opinions. Submission threads are not supposed to be echo chambers. Implying those who don't think the same as you "aren't thinking logically" is actually quite insulting.

I understand why people want this, but it would kill my drive to hunt wild wolves, and my pride in the special ones I have. It would take away a lot of the fun in the gamble that is a wild wolf or full besprinkle. Getting one that looks great, or has special colors, is like a trophy. Single layer besprinklers take away the specialty of those wolves. I personally would be solely buying for ID at that point, since I could just keep sprinkling over time for exactly what I want with no risk. Only the cost of whatever it was. At least with full besprinkles, if you get close to one palette you want, you take a risk trying to get closer, because every full besprinkle could put you further from your goal. A single layer besprinkler only benefits.

I have a hard time seeing a future where this increases the value of wild wolves. Maybe low digit wolves, or special IDs, but not new ones. More appealing wild wolves means a bigger supply, which drives prices down. It makes them no longer special, which takes away the value. Maybe not all at once, but over time it'll drop. Or, people hold onto a bunch of almost-perfect wolves while slowly sprinkling their off layer, instead of buying appealing ones people got by chance. I barely make sales as it is.

The biggest issue I have is that it just feels like a fun-killer, to me. There's not the same sense of accomplishment. If the game already had a single layer besprinkler, I would definitely have used it, trust me, I do want it. But I think it's better for the game to not have it.

Sadly, no support

I feel like this will do more harm the LW economy than good as it takes value out of doubles/near misses/ pretty WW since everything can be brute forced, kinda like how a wolf's eye colour doesn't really matter because of the existence of eye besprinklers

I also don't think a time sensitive item as powerful as a single layer sprinkler is a good idea either. Assuming the item doesn't disappear after the event, I can see it becoming a significantly worse spiralling money pit than flightrisings eye scatter vials at it's height. (I think it was 400g per vial if you wanted to try for the rare primal eyes, leading to 10's of 1000's of gems being spent).
If the item does disappear I can also see I can see massive amounts of disappointment from people who could not spend alot of time on the event, missed it entirely and/or spent hours trying to get said items, only to not get anything nice out of it

I have a very hard time with this one. It is something I really want, but not sure is good for the game. The alternative I have been thinking about suggesting is maybe 2 layer sprinkles? Would love it if we could choose 2, but if not maybe accent and under are combined and top and base? It would keep some of the randomness, but still allow for rerolling a smaller part of the wolf.

I could see this being a cycling thing, like once a week every month. Keeps the item rare, without harming too many wolves. We do need a single layer scatter for the base color minimum.

People who aren't supporting this are acting like the "perfect ww" is just a single click away and will only take one item, and that really isn't, and won't ever be the case. I support this as long as it's kept rare or high-priced since it could be relatively easy to fix a bad color on an otherwise decent-looking wolf. People who say you could get all matching colors this way really aren't considering just how impossible that really is.

It would take a really long time with the amount of colors on the color wheel to get one wolf to all matching colors. It would likely take a long time and a lot of money. I can see the concerns of some WW sellers, but I can also see how hard that would be. Maybe someone with math skills could calculate the percentage and randomness factor so people can be able to think about this more logically.

I support this, and I will always support this. There is 5 slots, there's 177 colours. Even with a single slot randomizer, it is anything but too easy. Would it be pay to win? I don't think so.. having a pretty wolf doesn't really do anything to 'win'. Even pretty pups on the market are dirtcheap. And I doubt sincerely if I manage to besprinkle a WW into a perfect colour after many hard tries and then decide to sell it, someone will be willing to pay the price equivalent to what it takes to besprinkle it. So no there's no really winning in having pretty wolves.

Just some math. Let's assume I have a near perfect wolf, but only one colour is off. It has a 1 in 177 (or a 0.005%) chance to get a specific colour I want.. Keep in mind that previously rolled colours have no influence on newly rolled colours. Duplicates can and will happen when besprinkling. To put it into perspective. After using 100 besprinklers there's still only a 50% or so chance that I have gotten the colour I want. There's as solid 32% I still won't have the colour I want after 200 attempts. And that's talking about just 1 colour. If I want two colours changed, the chances drop even further.

Fact of the matter is there is a ton of colours, 5 slots to work with and many colours simply don't work together. Introducing single slot besprinklers is not going to increase the amount of quintuple (wild) wolves we are going to see. But it will give a chance the nearly 100 colour monstrosities of wild wolves currently wasting away in my den, to become at least a little bit prettier.

Since they are more targeted I do think they should be more expensive than current besprinkler. Not a big fan of time-limited events or long waiting periods in between getting them. As I said, you may be besprinkling 100 times before you get your desired colour and having to wait 100 weeks on top of the effort of saving up the moonstones needed feels like a very unnecessary limitations. I also don't see a use for making them untradable. If anything, that makes them pay to win, because then people who only have pebbles or valuable other items wont be able to trade for them. Making things accountbound imo in a game like this does nothing but kill the market and favour those who can pay.

TLDR: Yes for single slot besprinklers, as long as they are more expensive than the current besprinkler. No for limitations in trading or obtaining them. Paying for them should be enough of a limitation.

Edit to add: I might've mixed up the FR and LW colourwheels. FR has 177 colours, and I thought LW did as well, but I see some folks saying 201 and that also rings a bell. In that case my math is off, and the outcomes are actually a bit worse. :)

No support, regardless of fancy math the fun (for me) is in that full RNG baby. I don’t think single sprinklers are the answer for wolves with just 1 wonky color. I’m keeping my wolves that are “almost perfect” in hopes of new genes that make the color easier to hide or even fit nicely in. Imagine an accent heart gene, suddenly my red accent is actually very cute on this wolf and less of a nuisance. Also, the CA store has under and accent covers, there is no green under on my pretty pink and purple lead wolf.

Anyways more genes pls it’s good for the economy.
