Welcome to the first Community Howl for Lorwolf!
The Community Howl aims to share community highlights, information and other cool things with you.
If you are okay to be featured in future Community Howls, you can tag @lorwolfofficial on Tumblr, use the designated lorwolf-media forum in the discord or tag @Quiche when sharing your Lorwolf media in the forums. Don't forget to write down how you'd like to be credited and your pronouns.
Well, with introductions out of the way, let's jump right into this Community Howl.
Community Competitions
We've taken your feedback on board and are happy to announce that we are hosting Community competitions. Our first colouring contest will be held and run for three weeks. Represent your pack by designing a standard (flag) based on one of the four packs. The winning entries will become pebble apparel available on-site. More details can be found here.
The mystery unravelled
Thank you to those who suggested our skittery friend in the Item Creator Shrine and EA. Glotus is real in the year 2023. Some sharp-eyed lorfolk discovered that the old files for the campaign talked of Glotus, Lotus’ pet gecko. Glotus’ family, the Spotted Geckos, are coming to swarm a pebble shop near you in the next Dev Update. But did you know that there is a nocturnal cousin in the land of the moon?
September Mid-Month Patch Notes
The Dev Team have been working hard to bring the September Patch Notes to the community, which was aimed for the mid-month. Unfortunately, we’ve been informed that JimJim, our lead Developer, has fractured his arm in an accident. The Lorwolf Team send their well wishes on a speedy recovery.
What does this mean for achievements? Will there be another delay?
Achievements are still coming! The already-delayed mid-month patch will be merged with the Achievement Dev Update and will be released as soon as possible. JimJim will be resting as Swell steps up to finish the vital parts remaining.
Will development stop on the achievement system once it’s launched?
It’s far from over! The Dev Team are looking forward to adding more achievements and rewards in future patches. As new features are implemented, the community completes achievement goals, community feedback and new chapter releases; more will become available to the player.
Will there be any other delays?
As we discovered, many issues or problems can appear and cause delays during development. ETAs cause a lot of disappointment all around for both the community and the Dev Team when an ETA is not met, pressuring the Team into feeling they need to crunch to meet these expectations and increase chances of burnout. As such, we will no longer be providing ETAs on long-term projects but, in turn, will provide progress updates and the following roadmap goals.
Categorising Posts
With the above in mind, after the next update, we will be categorising the following updates and posts you will see in Recent News and Patch Notes.
Dev Update - A word from the Dev Team on the progress of long-term projects. These may not always provide content, or sneak peeks but a general address to the community. (No set schedule to post)
Patch Note - For bugs, maintenance and balancing updates. Content will not be provided with these. (No set schedule to post)
Content Update - Here completed long-term projects are posted and the next long-term goal is set. Examples: Achievements, Vault, new professions, events, revamps and campaign chapters. (No set schedule to post)
Community Howl - Community check-ins, fan media spotlights and recaps. (These will start monthly as we estimate the workload needed to provide these)
Profession Weekly - Little reminders of the profession activity of the week. Small content updates for already-established features on-site are detached from the long-term projects/patch notes and will be added to these mini-updates if available. This is to meet the needs and suggestions of our community and to avoid large dry spells such as August - September again with small content updates becoming frequent. (Posts are weekly, small content has no set schedule)
A Little Chilly
The Mod Trainees are having fun this week with Trainee Sheera regaling us with their lore and shiny new flag standard for their pack.
Green Is In!
Decked to even the nose with Lorium, this personal guard for royalty is ready for action with his ability of foresight. Drawn by Stellori#583, Kizeri shows off the Merle Under he dreams to have in his pawsession.
Morel Apparel
It's time to get cosy for our autumn walks. Miss Mac is worried about the weather getting chilly and is writing up recipes as we speak to keep those wolf leggies warm. Available in the next update.
Looking forward to getting cosy this Autumn with our community. We want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding.
Moonsblessings,
Quiche
