I've just been kind of thinking over this, but I think one of the things Lorwolf is missing right now is the ability to positively impact other players on some tangible level.
(this is touched on a bit in "Give Packs More Purpose" over here but I thought I'd talk in a more general sense)
Anyway the point is I think right now the player gameplay is sort of isolated/competitive, and I think a lot of people would react pretty positively to being given concrete ways of helping other players, since the playerbase itself is in general quite kind and giving! I think there's a number of ways to implement this, and I'll just toss in a few examples off the top of my head.
FR: Flights + Dominance.
- not a big fan of this one personally, since it's so competition based and it can feel very disheartening to individual players
GPXPlus: Pass Counter? or Something?
- I have not been on gpxplus in years but I loved that more people playing meant more boosts happening! it made it exciting to check back the next day to help continue the boosts.
Various idle games: Site-wide boosts
- a number of idle games let you pay money to extend the timer on site-wide boosts, and sometimes will ping chat to let people know who boosted when. There's downfalls to this (unwanted attention can suck!), but also last time I saw one happen, the round of "thank you!" 's I saw in chat was pretty heartwarming.
Pixel Cat: User Advertisements
- this is not exactly in the same category, but I love that you can pay money to put pictures of your cats on the site, and I love seeing people's cats there!!
I feel like pet games in general can suffer a lot from feeling isolated and frustrated, and it'd be nice to give people the ability to help eachother out. Something like site-wide "wild wolf encounters up" or "pebble rewards up" I think would be very popular, but I know there's risks of FOMO feeling if you miss something like that, or if it's too powerful. It'd definitely take a lot of testing to figure out what the best cost/reward numbers for it would be, but I think it'd be worth it to strengthen the community!
