I’m kind of stuck in the middle here. On one hand I’m willing to give this site a chance and wait for it to get better. Good things take time to develop and Rome wasn’t build in one day and all that…
But on the other hand I’m also very sympathetic to the frustrations outlined here. I think a lot of that could have been avoided. Players have been giving feedback since alpha and beta. And coming back to full launch to just see the same issues with minimal improvements? Yeah, that’s discouraging for returners.
Couple that with newbies being confused by the site’s layout and unclear tutorials, as well as relatively little to do right now, I can guess why player numbers drop, forums are inactive and the player economy takes a plunge right along.
Is the comparison of FR and LW uneven? Of course! But people are not doing a 1:1 for both sites as they are right now and rather are trying to point out that FR had maaanyyy hiccups before they got to where they are right now. And it’s always a good idea to try and learn from your predecessors.
The delay in August is also not in itself an issue. We all would rather see the dev team take their time with major updates to the game and give it the necessary polish without burning themselves out. And I don’t think focusing on work and not putting out a ton of updates is in itself a bad thing. But don’t leave your players hanging for too long. There are other pet sites and all of them are competing for the same resource (a limited pool of niche players).
Overall while I too am a little frustrated and worried about the site since launch I still hold out hope that we’ll see this come around in the future. Only time will tell.
