When I don't feel like throwing a lot of patience into grinding for my MS shards, I just throw crops in for every 20-30 minutes and keep on top of mining while not really focusing too much. Mining gives me a lot of my daily MS shards.

On top of what people have said, you can sell stacks of 99 bones for 1 MS each, and you can also sell knucklebone tokens for MS.
