How much do you actually care about generation?

Generation seems to be a huge selling point at the moment, and I guess I'm just curious to what extent players really care about it. For me, I'm more likely to pay more for a G2 puppy simply because of the convenience; they're going to be able to breed with pretty much any wolf and right now that's a huge selling point. I'll also consider paying a bit more for G3s, but by the point wolves are marketed as G4s and even G5s, it's not worth any extra price tag for me. I imagine the appeal of even G2s will decrease for me as the game gets older and it starts becoming rarer for two random wolves to be related to each other.

Thoughts? Do you like buying low-generation wolves for a different reason? Is there a different cutoff point for you when they stop becoming worth more in your eyes? Do you not care about generation at all?

Personally, it depends on what I intend to use the pup for.

Breeding projects in which I'd like to keep and/or sell the babies are a lot more fun when I start with G1 wolves; it lets me get a little creative with what colours & patterns I breed because it usually comes down to finding two G1 wolves that make cute pups--and sometimes they aren't colours I'd normally consider, myself!

If I'm buying a pup off the FM or from someone else, then I generally try to keep it to G2. I usually breed G2 wolves for fodder and will sometimes keep a baby if it's particularly cute. G3+ I only buy if I'm obsessed with the colours/patterns on the wolf OR if I need it for Campaign/Activities fodder, but at some point I'd like to dwindle that down to G2 & below as well.

I think it adds additional challenge for me, which keeps me from buying so many wolves I don't need, haha!

Not much. Although it's exciting to find a nice WW since they're rarer, I really only value it in that I know other players value it and certain things may sell better.

Edited to add: As for breeding, I just check the demo to make sure the two wolves can breed.

Lego basically spelled out my exact reasoning for G1/2 preference. I'm the same on FR.

Not much at all! I generally don't care about generation.
Edit- A lot of it comes from, the lower gens actually don't look at nice as some of the later generations. Getting Lucky from RNG isn't as entertaining as taking the time to actually find a pair of wolves that will throw decent matching puppies. I'd sooner pay a lower price for a wolf that looks nice, and has an extensive background, than something that's the same colors, but a lower gen, and more expensive.

I care a lot about the generation (and lower digits) because as Lego said-it adds challenge. I get a rush if I feel like I'm getting a more valuable wolf which-theoretically lower gens are. If I get a G2 wolf I love the look of I feel like I've hit a jackpot and if it's a G1 like I've won the lottery.

That being said I'll still buy any gen wolf if I absolutely adore their look but in my mind they're still a less valuable commodity so I try to limit this as much as I can bear. Though it's definitely hard to pass up the cuties especially when they're priced lower.

i really don't care too much about it if i'm buying it for looks but if i plan on breeding it i do check it's family to make sure i can breed the two, overall i don't really mind what gen it is as long as it's pretty or works for what i want i get it

I will focus on breeding for Gen in games where they are valued if I decide to sell for profit, but personally I really don't care about Gen for my own pets. For myself, I just want pets that can breed nice offspring or just have pets that simply look beautiful. That is more important to me than Gen. As space is limited in this game, I will not breed for profit, and will very carefully collect what appeals to me aesthetically.

I mainly care about generation for Bracchus' ^^
I do love me G1s but atm there's not many around with combos I'd like, so anything that isnt a Bracchus and is pretty, I don't care for generation on!

I don't care at all. Getting new wolves is already hard enough I don't need to stress myself over that.
