I do support female wolves being able to be placed on the flea market for breeding services. I would absolutely love that ability! However, I don't particularly want to see a whole new system. In other words, I don't want to also see "Lorwolf (For Brood)" in the flea market filters right next to "Lorwolf (For Stud)."
It feels like the gendered aspect would be unnecessary and confusing for new players, considering there doesn't HAVE to be a difference. Fundamentally these are both just 'rent a mate' type services. Obviously in real life the logistics of offering stud or brood services differ, and those differences are unavoidable. But this is a game, and there's no reason to have what is basically the same service in terms of gameplay split in two.
Rather than code in a whole second option and auto nesting and such, I would personally rather they recode the current breeding system with female 'studding' in mind. Make it work the same way male studding does. The person who buys the listing is the person who has to send their own wolf to their own nest, and gets the pups.
Most of terms used in wolf status and breeding aren't even necessarily gendered, and probably don't have to change. The only one that is is "Give Birth/Ready For Birth" I think? Maybe change that to "Have Pups" or "Welcome Pups" or something? But the rest are Expecting, Ready For Nest/Nesting, and Resting. Lorwolves are sapient in lore. A male wolf can be excitedly Expecting his future pups. He can be the one Nesting and get everything ready. The female wolf can just be an egg donor/surrogate who spends her time Resting at home (and lorewise just briefly visits the father's nest to give birth, but we don't need to mechanically represent that happening in gameplay).
Not much has to change on the user side for this to work. It wouldn't be a whole new system for us to learn. It would require coding changes so the breeding specific wolf statuses and the whole process could attach to a male instead of a female, but any new system would require new code too. I would much rather see every 'rent a mate' service in the same place and working the same way. It would be a much more straightforward and user friendly system. Splitting male and female systems may make sense if we're forced to work within the current breeding framework, but it's much more clunky on the user end. Unless it's literally impossible, I'd rather they change the breeding framework.
