Great questions everyone, these were a lot of fun to think about!! I've answered some of them below:
I've often wondered when looking at the Moon Priestess' Tear and the Sun God's Flame trinket items... are these based after any particular packs' history or superstitions?
@Pancake These rare gems are loosely based on Goldsean history! It is said that ancient Goldseans used to worship the sun and moon as gods and used these gemstones as part of their long-forgotten rituals.
how did Loria get its name? is it like the legend of Zelda, where Hyrule is sorta named after the goddess Hylia? been wondering this for a while haha, and i havent found anything to answer this (i might just be blind XD)
@CallOfTheVoid Great question, no one knows for sure where the name "Loria" came from, but lorwolves today consider it the name given by the Creators.
What do the Creators, Energy and Order, look like and are there other known Creators?
@Fluffy Like all of the Creators, Energy and Order do not have solid forms. Their default state is a glowing mass of light, but they can take whatever physical form they desire. And yes, there are dozens of other Creators, some known and some unknown to the wolves of Loria.
In Loria are the wolf/wolf-type creatures the highest standing creatures compared to other creatures like companions and such (like if there is such a thing as a hirerachy in Loria)
And are the Creators also wolves or are they an other type of creature?
@Pearfect In general, yes, wolves are considered at the top of the hierarchy chain in terms of general intelligence and territory holdings. However, other creatures such as Companions are not seen as lesser. There are countless other groups and cultures that exist outside of the overall wolf packs. Some support the wolves, others do not, so hierarchy is somewhat subjective!
I'd be curious to see what you have in mind for Chaos overall, but my first question would be: Are there more entities like him out there? And what would they be like, similar or individual and unique?
@Fleetway Yes, there are just as many "destroyers" in the Lorian universe as their are "creators," so Chaos is not alone. However, the wolves are unaware of the others. All of these beings are individual and have their own goals and desires.
Exciting! My number one burning question is... where do the non-wolf NPCs come from? For example, Koda is a bear and very willing to work with the wolves of Loria, but your average Moorbear is... less so LOL. I'd love to know if they come from different parts of Loria or if there's places outside Loria they hail from--even if they're unnamed places!
@Lego Some NPCs come from the continent of Loria and others, like Stella and Coco, come from far away lands! Koda is indeed a Moorbear, but like all of the NPCs they left their own kind in order to team up with the wolves. There are several islands and continents throughout the world that have yet to be explored.
I've been planning on utilizing the companions you find in Goldsea in my lore, so I would love to know more about them! Specifically I've been thinking about the machaira: the description for the volcanic machaira mentions that they like to teach wolves about meatalsmithing so Ive been curious how they communicate? We know that varani can talk to wolves from the campaign, I'd love to know what other companions can talk and how they fit into wolf-society. Also, how big are machaira? I feel like their manes imply them being lion-ish, but something about their art makes me think they're smaller than that :o
@Briar Great question, most creatures in Loria use the same language and they are able to communicate quite easily! Those that choose to ally with the Lorwolves are treated like members of the pack. Machaira are a bit smaller than Lupins, but their manes are just as impressive and fluffy as a lion's!
What's the max levels of technology Lorwolves and other creatures have? What do settlements look like? Clearly, they are a LOT more advanced than the wolves of Wolvden, as Lorwolves have access to basic mining tools such as carts and (blast?) furnaces, cooking tools, etc. I was thinking maybe slightly pre-industrial/early industrial levels, is that right? In any case, probably less so than Flight Rising or Dappervolk, where FR has many apparel and misc items that are mechanical or otherwise artificial and DV has some elements of tech.
@JadeJester I would say the Lorwolves are at a pre-industrial stage. They are able to use the tools and help from other creatures to accomplish basic tasks, but they haven't advanced to the point of creating machinery or any sort of tech.
