I noticed when selling pups that most end up keeping the name I gave them as pups.

(I name them so they are easier to ID)

Granted, I do put a few seconds to give them a lovely name or a made up word that sounds nice. But I never expected people would actually not change them. (especially the made up words)

When I renamed wolves they often had a name after a colour on them. So I felt the name lacked personality.

But I've also kept many OG names that were lovely. Like my Barberry that i got from a player who got my progen pup named Cedar, both OG names.

I often kept the ww names as what they came with too. Notable my fem nikita kit and male freya kit xD

So...

What's your take on that? Think a wolf's first name is almost too 'sacred' to change, or does it go case by case?

I usually keep them if they're nice. For example, some wolves I bought had African names, which matched my savanna/desert theme. But I change the names if I'm not into them.

I often keep the names the pups I buy come with! I also enjoy finding them mates and making a little naming theme between them.

As for WW I'm pickier and I generally only keep them if they tickle me. Like I got a kit named Joseph and she looks like a Joseph to me, so she'll always be Joseph. I also found a Starr and he's very much a Starr so that stays too.

Shoulda known it! Given how often names were kept, it'd make sense a lot of us tend to grow on some names (but change others too, reasons why vary).

I am terrible at names, so as long as it is not something like "double" or "347324" or "Giant bag of pants", the name will stay

Nope, since I have specific plans, I always rename them xD

I really only rename them if it's something like 12345 G3 or something, otherwise they typically stay whatever they were. Most names fit the wolves, it's mostly WW I change the names of because they sound too human. Maybe this is some of my old Pokemon trading coming through, but I got pretty used to being unable to change the name of a traded pokemon, so now I just kinda keep the names out of habit.

Sometimes if I buy a pup I'll look at the parents' pups and see if the owner has themed their childrens' names. One of my wolves, Oregano, came from a family with all food-themed names, and since I got Oregano due to her ID being my old zip code in Oregon, adding an O just felt fitting, even if she is black and red. When she was sent to me her name was AA so I don't feel bad about changing it.

So far, I've kept the names on both of the WWs I've decided to hold on to - I really fell in love with the name Trent and I probably wouldn't have kept that wolf if it didn't come with that name :p For the wolves that I buy, I usually don't really notice their names? Maybe I've just been happening to buy no-names, or if they do have names then I must change them up pretty quick. I buy wolves pretty rarely, so I have a character in mind already when I go to purchase most of the time.

I'm always a bit surprised when people get wolves from me and don't rename them, especially since renaming is totally free. I feel like I'm really lazy when it comes to naming pups and just try to use their appearances to come up with a fitting noun or adjective and call it a day. But apparently a good number of people keep the names their wolves come with, so maybe if I was better at picking names wolves would sell better lol
