Nothing like spending time searching through the parents of two wolves, only to miss the singular connection they have through sibling grandparents and are thus unable to breed. So now I gotta find another all black wolf to breed to either Ohne or Null. Drew up a heritage tree because I couldn't find the connection- there it is. 11990 and 11991, the devils.

Any of y'all made the same mistake as me and didn't check hard enough between two wolves you intended to breed? I'm so glad studding is a thing because that way I don't keep buying related wolves, it's almost happened several times to me already.

this was like a week ago- i didnt think they were related because the male was green and the mother was purple- but nope, they're related-

found a diff wolf to breed the green guy with tho haha

That happened to me with Skylark :’) His lineage includes practically every blue purple pastel white accent/under pairs I can think of and I’ve given up trying to find a mate for him.

@CallOfTheVoid I've done the same with, like, three of my wolves. Felt like a fool each time. I've now got a family tree I made for myself for quick reference, and I use studding a lot to help keep ancestry as separate as possible.

@Jinghua Skylark is so pretty, I hope you're able to find a mate some day. I've got one named Nutmeg who somehow manages to be related to every other wolf with her colors, it's absurd.

Not exactly the same, but I’m working on a breeding project to get a breeding pair of Mexican Grey Wolves. The problem is, the only wolves that are close enough to my goal colors are all full siblings from the same pair of progen wolves. And every time I see one of them on the flea market, I get excited with how close they are to my goal colors and buy them immediately before checking to see who their parents are. I’ve accidentally purchased 5 of them so far, and I’ve only found ONE unrelated wolf to breed them with. So getting the third generation is going to take a while ;—;
