It's a shame there's no incentive to do anything involving releasing wolves. Payout for nearly everything on LW is insanely low and not worth the time. A huge driver for the economy of FR is leveling dragons and exalting them for profit, but that's not worth it on LW, so nobody wants to buy the junk wolves. If I leveled a wolf to 10 and released it, I would probably make more money selling the materials I got from campaign rather than from the wolf itself.

I think "the site is new, it'll get better" is a valid thing to say, but I think it's more like "the site is new and we don't yet have any way to make money off of wolves besides player to player interaction, and we're stuck until we do". I’m not sure if the site’s going to rebalance on its own, not without the help of a system that incentivizes releasing them more. People are just going to keep breeding more and more wolves (and so rapidly too) and eventually nobody's going to want to or be able to buy them.

FR incentivizes exaltation with dominance, which gives you additional daily rewards, and actually gives a reason for junk dragons/wolves to exist - as fodder.

Truthfully, this feels like something that should've been ironed out in beta and wasn't. Lots of economy suggestions were available and I don't think many were implemented, cough, excessive moonstone expansions. I agree with OP that the gameplay is not substantial enough for the amount of grinding you have to do.

Raising the base payout would be nice since it’s very very low, but too much and it could just end up like the "add a third lane to fix traffic" kind of thing. We need a good reason to release wolves. I would so much rather have a system like that on its way than more professions. Otherwise, we've just added another lane.

My wolves and studs have been selling pretty decently lately actually. I advertise on discord, which helps.

The biggest thing is that the site is still super new. Not a surplus of active players + small forum presence + surplus of wolves + (imo) not very good looking wolves + low release incentive = a mass amount of wolves hanging out in-game with nowhere to go and no one to buy them.

It should get better with time if the devs take the not-great status of the economy in its current state seriously.

I was just looking to get a zerda and the lowest I thought I saw was like 20k?
Will check again, and I know this post is a week old, but I WISH I could get one for so cheap.

Would love to get a pair of each of the moonstone breed just for myself.

However I do agree the payout isn't the greatest, however mentioning FR, even there fodder isnt that big of a deal anymore. This is coming from someone who has been playing for 10 years. The floor has been slowly creeping up making baby and adults closer meaning less profits. I find the only meaningful time to actually train and exalt is either A. my own after hoarding fodder for months on end or B. waiting for increase exp gain events. Their coli is worse than lorwolf's imo as I am fed up with the dodge rate, exalt, etc.

I used to make really good profit buying hatchlings, storing them, waiting for them to grow, then selling the adults, but again, the floor is so close now, the time it takes for them to grow up plus the time sink just isnt worth it imo.

At least the wolves here have faster turnover for the births. If I get 3 pups, that's 3k without even selling. If I have several pairs going and cycle through at the base amount I can make a decent amount.

Add the frog exp farming method to the pups.

Then you can also level up with a whole back in campaign.

The issue with buying other people's fodder pups is that you have to spend that 1k upfront rather than cycling through your own. There is no reason to buy off of others with the cool down and births so rapid.

This isn't a negative, just an observation. I personally wish the payout was a tiny bit better, especially with some of the HUGE costs for some of the items, recipes, etc as I am, for some reason, struggling. However I also don't want a FR clone. I would just play FR if I wanted that.

Have you guys tried to sell for pebble instead of MS? I mean that seriously, MS are really hard to get for the average player, and they won't just think twice, but at least a dozen times, before spending on anything that costs MS. On the other hand, pebbles can be easy to get. Add to that, there is a lot more competition selling for MS, on the FM now : WW pb 1 page, MS 29 pages / Normal pb 37 pages, MS 97 pages.

If you want to sell your wolves, you'll have to partake actively in the market. By that, I mean do research, look up on the FM where there is less competition try different combination of origin (WW, Normal), sex, breed and level. That also means be proactive in your sell strategy, don't hesitate to retire a wolf that isn't selling because the market has changed.

For example, there seems to be an excellent opportunity to make some cash and disrupt the Volmyr market in pebbles. There are only 6 of them at 200k+ PB. which is waaaaay too expensive, outside of grinders few players can afford that right now without thinking twice about what they need most, a new wolf or a new recipe. Wolves are not a priority right now to many players. Also, be careful ask yourself why there is not more Volmyr on the FM, that's suspicious. Personally, I think Volmyrs are just the most ugly thing there is on LW. I'll let you ponder on that, are the majority on LW thinking Volmyr are ugly?

Don't think I just want to be mean with people whose goal is to sell wolves on the FM. It's just I've already seen maybe a dozen threads like this one, "my wolves are not selling, are wolves becoming worthless". And I have the feeling that sellers aren't in tune with their buyers. Wolves have value, but it may not be the one you think it really is. During beta in general, the average ugly random wolf price was around 500 pebbles. Be ready for this kind of prices to come back.

I also think giving more reward for releasing won't change anything to the situation, it will just give more opportunity for grinder to make money. People who like to breed their wolves will still do it and will still not buy wolves on the FM. And people who prefer to not breed and buy are still limited by den space. They have to think as a wolf cost as its price plus den space price that is still far too expensive. I don't think these group of people are ready to release wolves into the wild when they've spent quite a bit on them. Or they will keep their den as is because they feel attached to their wolves, so not buying new wolves of very few. Or they will have to sell first and then buy. So, again, not buying new wolves or very few.

If you really want to make cash from the FM or, you will have to be a very active seller with a ton of stock you can deploy and retire fast depending on what sell. Or you'll have to specialize and make a name for yourself, for example during EA or beta I don't remember someone made wolves that looked like Foxes. They had a lot of success. But that last one also mean start slow and inexpensive and rise your prices accordingly to your success. Your wolves won't sell for 100k+ pebbles for some time you may be better off starting at 2.5K if you have a very particular thing you are sure will sell well, if you aren't sure, start at 1k and go up from there and keep a relatively low stock on the market.

Oh wow, thank you DerpFox.
I was able to get a nice Zerda for 1 moonstone after that tip. I had just spent a bunch on other things, but assuming the market stays the same and others don't read this thread, I should have a pair shortly!

I agree, I was one of those people only looking at the cost of pebbles because moonstone are super hard to come by for standard players. Anything I get normally goes toward upgrades for my account, such as larger mining cart. I am more willing to spend pebbles on wolves over moonstones depending on the prices.

"Also, be careful ask yourself why there is not more Volmyr on the FM, that's suspicious." - DerpFox

Tbh, I don't think it's suspicious, at all. I mean...

  1. Their breed change is 20 bucks a pop, unless you grind like a real son of a &%$!# to buy MS from the FM. lol
  2. Nice looking volmyr (well, ones that I like, anyway) currently cost around the same, if not way more.
  3. They have the longest breeding cooldown, so far, at 18 days.
  4. They currently have the highest breed rarity, so a mixed pairing will more likely result in non-volmyr pups.

I absolutely adore the volmyr breed, and want to make a bunch of breeding pairs, even if just for my own enjoyment. But it's a slow process because of the above points. :')

(By all means, I'm sure there are many people who find them ugly as sin, but I'm dead certain that if the price of their breed change was much less and their cooldown only 10 days, you'd currently see loads more of them in the FM.)

Edit: Added point 4.

Thank you, Shadowbanish, I didn't know about that.

As I said, I think Volmyr are very ugly to me, so I didn't look into them. 18 days breeding cool down is insane, I thought every breed had the same cool down. There shouldn't be any difference between breeds for cooldowns. And in general, I think breeding in LW should be faster. And just as a quick explanation of my point of view on things in game. LW if my first pet site, and honestly, I have been seduced by the theme and lore during the KS campaign. I'm here to play with wolves, not wait. Plus I have a job, I can't play much, so everything feels suuuuuper long to me for no good reason. I liked how faster thing were during beta, and I wished they stayed like that. So after what I learned about Volmyr I was thinking I could use my breed change speciality on my next WW, now I'm not too sure 7 breeding CD is already too much for me, I think if I had discovered that randomly on my own I would have thrown the sponge on LW.

Sorry, I think I just got a bit too much rambling there ^-^

StrayPup, hey, good for you. My advice goes both way. If seller can search more to know where there is money to be made. Buyers can too search where the cheaper items and wolves are.

@DerpFox Increased breeding cooldowns going hand in hand with increased rarity is common in pet sites, to my knowledge. Heck, flight rising's Rare breeds have a month long cooldown and their Plentiful (starter) breeds have 15 day cooldowns. LW is not bad by comparison.

I've gotten to the point where I'm just releasing the ones I don't think will sell. Would their ID's be worth something down the line? Sure! However everyone is also thinking along those lines. People are hoarding and with how easily you can breed wolves, the economy grew very very stagnant.
Hence prices just DROPPING.
I could be completely wrong here, and I know that the wolf hoarding is only part of the problem but I think it would help at least.
