Are wolves worthless?

Are they already, are they going to be soon?

What can fix this?

Even zerda are going 1 Ms now, eventually all will be really cheap. So many expired flea market listings I can’t clear all at once. Dens too full, no one buying even cute wolves. Haven’t been playing much.

Anyone else feel similar?

I really loved this site and invested in it but I don’t play it near enough to justify how much I supported it for myself. Still glad because the site and art is absolutely amazing but sad because I just don’t find the gameplay very substantial at all.

Yuuuuup. Saw this coming right when the site launched. There simply (still) isn't a big enough incentive to send wolves to the wild, wolves can breed like machines, and there a hard limit on how much space you can get before you need to cough up gems.

Aiming for cool ID numbers will still be fairly lucrative, I imagine, and a good Gen 1 will of course be worth a bunch, but your average, run-of-the-mill wolf? Might as well grind them to lvl 10 and at least guarantee 10K pebbles ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I think if something like aging would do a thing. If a wolf dies it generates space.

Yeah, there aren't mechanics that make non WWs special or worth besprinkling over releasing in any way, which means this was always coming

they're worth at least 1000 pebbles if you release them out the get go. g2s seem to be worth something for some reason, not sure what the difference between a g2 and any other wolf is though. with g1s at least there's no parents. I know my puppy kennel is doing terribly even after adding bracchuses to my pairs.

feel this so much now. so many appealing wolves i've to just release after a week or so of trying to sell, but i really need the space now. i invested a lot in it too at the start, i sorta regret it now if i'm honest, but i have a sliver of faith left things will improve so sticking around for the long run.

The market is really weird. I agree that there should be more incentives for releasing wolves. I think you should at least get a moonstone shard or two because right now, that is compounding the issue; it is very difficult to get moonstones outside of directly purchasing them.

I think right now (and for the near future, unfortunately) there are also just not enough genes, breeds, mutations, etc. to make most wolves unique. More variations and more unique combinations would help overall.

Additionally, I do think there was a problem of overvaluation early on that is causing a shock factor. Just my opinion, but when you see wolves priced at 200+ moonstones... are they actually "worth" that? The equivalent of $20? I think in some cases, maybe, but as a rule, no.

I think the sudden shift to wolves not selling, even for lower pebbles ranges, however, points to the larger economy problem others have described here.

The site is still very young, there's still lots of things not optimized. FR also had a poor economy and less dragon diversity in the beginning, things just take time to develop and work out. I agree releasing wolves need a much higher incentive, as well as some sort of buffing to a wolf being born from a certain generation, but I think these things can be worked out in due time.

The site is barely two months old. There’s bound to be color preferences with people too. I don’t think the wolves are worthless, but I do think if you’re going, yes 200 moonstones for a wolf is normal then you are overestimating the price of a wolf.

It was always absolute bonkers to me that people would try yo sell Volmyrs for over 200 moonstones. I could just buy a breed change at that price.

I don’t buy a lot of wolves because the ones that have been bred with obvious care are all like 200 moonstones! And the ones that are in my price range aren’t what I’m looking for. I’ll pay like 150 moonstones at most for a wolf I like at this point. The rest of my funds go to building up my den spaces.

In my opinion as a buyer, most wolves are just ugly. Though I’m a mainly WW lair, I have been looking for G2+ wolves. But very few both meet my qualifications and have a price equal to (or less than) their actual worth. I have a limited number of space, so I’m only going to buy wolves that I really love and feel I can make an emotional connection to. I’m not going to buy a wolf with a bright pink base, a dark green top, a brown under, and a blue accent if it has nothing else special about it.

It’s important to remember that 200ms is more than 2000 FR gems. What completely basic (as in regular/not special, I don’t necessarily mean the genes) G2+ dragons have you seen on the Auction House being BOUGHT for 2000g? Especially if they aren’t aesthetically appealing to the majority of players?

It’s also important to remember 1ms is more than 10,000 pebbles right now, which is more than what you’d currently get by immediately releasing them. So people probably won’t buy the wolf unless they actually want to keep them, since they probably won’t be able to make a profit by releasing them. Releasing wolves absolutely needs to have a better reward to keep the bottom price of selling wolves high enough to be at least a tiny bit worth it.

But at the end of the day, most wolves, like most dragons, probably aren’t going to find a forever home. And that’s just how these kinds of games work.
