I feel like bc of the nature of suggestion/bug forums it's very easy to talk about negative aspects of games but harder to just say "hey I really like this feature!" so I just wanted to make a thread of some things I really appreciate about lorwolf and its updates!!

I was just talking with my partner the other day about how nice the preview images are for uploading. the shop for them is also so cute and I love it?? it's got some issues but it still makes me so happy to browse!

it's so confusing and sure, it could be polished, but it's so unique and fun and nice to play with?? I loooove drafting mechanics and I love merging mechanics and I love how there's just enough space to draft a few sideboard guys but it's a Struggle anyway. Very cool imo??

- the Art
the art here is legit Gorgeous. it's very clear that the subjects are drawn with love and care, and I think that's evidence of some really good choices in designing the game to begin with. all the wolves and NPCs are designed and rendered with a really touching amount of care

- I think the site has been very kind and sensitive to players and that matters to me a lot

despite the absolutely minuscule team, I feel like the site has updated thoughtfully and tactfully and has done its best to listen to the players concerns and suggestions, even when the community occasionally works itself up into a tizzy over one feature or another. I know it's easy for other people to disagree on this, but I feel like things have been responded to quite quickly for what is basically a two person operation, and I have a lot of praise for how personal everything feels because of how small it is.

I've been enjoying the heck out of this site. Some of the features I love, in no particular order:

• Profession Enhancements - These have been a godsend! I don't use the cooking one much (as I have more food than I know what to do with), but I use the fishing and mining one religiously. They're both so useful, and my levelling in both professions has really jumped up with their additions.
• Staff Responsiveness - I'm honestly quite impressed with how quickly the Lorwolf team has responded to concerns and suggestions. The forum updates, the patch notes, the knucklebone tokens.
• Professions in General - I love how much we have to do, and how one profession impacts another. You fish & farm so you can cook, you mine so you can craft. And the way the professions work is pretty forgiving for casual players. There's a guaranteed harvest for crops, even if you can't keep up with compost and water. The enhancements make it even more forgiving, of course.
• Campaign Story - I really love that there's a story going on, that we can explore, and that we aren't locked out of exploring stories in different packs because of the one we chose when we started. I'm really interested to see where the stories go, and if the various stories intersect at any point.
• CA System - Being able to buy multiple CAs for a single wolf is so much fun! I love that you can stack them if you choose, and I really love that there's so much freedom in what you can do for a CA for a wolf. Skins & accents, but also apparel, foreground pieces, backgrounds, and so much. I feel like as the site grows, we're going to see a lot more fun CAs pop up.
• Wolves - The wolves themselves look so good. I love that they are more or less realistic, and that the patterns are meant to mimic actual patterns found in the real world. The colors can get wild, but that's part of the fun.
• Combat System - It can feel daunting at first, but I honestly love the combat system so much. I love that companions and wolves have their own synergies and abilities that make them fairly unique, and give them strengths and weaknesses. It's both very easy to get into and challenging to master, and encourages people to experiment with what works best.

There's so much else, but this is getting overlong already.

Yeah, despite the negatives (which do need to be brought up where necessary) this site does a lot of things right too. The 1k pebble profession enhancements are great though the cooking one is pretty useless to me (and mining). The new recipes are nice, I like em and i'm happy to use up my bulk trash 5 stam foods. The pride stuff could look better but its fine for what its worth (i've seen pride CAs that look much more well drawn and interesting, but I digress). The pride companion art is absolutely beautiful though, those porcupines are very much eye candy.

I don't have too much to say that hasn't already been said. I really love this site and am so impressed with the team. I'm old enough to know that spending so much time on something like this really does reflect a passion project. The coder/s in particular could be making so much more money doing practically any other coding job. I really have a hard time not getting upset when I see people going after them (in a non-constructive way)--it's the same gut response as watching someone harangue a retail manager or something.

In particular, I think the combat system is so brilliant, and I like that they've managed to utilize it multiple ways. They come from the same root, but you can't use the same strategies in gauntlet vs arena vs campaigning. That is so, so impressively clever.

I've really liked pretty much everything about the last two big updates--even the things that make the game more challenging clearly have a lot of long-term planning put into them. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the vision unfolding.

Yeah, the site's still new and it has problems which need to be addressed but I've been enjoying the heck out of my time so far. Some of my favorite things...

• The constant rotation of dailies. Wow, do I love this! It scratches my brain just right to have a never-ending rotation of stuff to do.
• Ability to set pronouns on our wolves' pages. I love this so much!!!
• Hands-off combat system. So satisfying to watch.
• The campaign story - I haven't seen many people talking about it, but I'm so excited to see where the story goes!

oh man extreme agree with the dailies!! I love being able to just keep cycling, it's sooo nice. and the ability to hover + click to get to the activity?? it's been amazing for me while I've been too stressed to think harder!

I have to say, I haven't had this much fun on a site like this since my early Neopets days! I was around for Dappervolk's launch and played Flight Rising for a while, but neither of them were as much fun for me as I'm having on Lorwolf. Some of my favourite parts:

• The endless minigame loop is very satisfying, I love jumping around from cooking to farming to mining, etc. I find little tasks like that very enjoyable.

• The combat system, all hail auto-battle. I never enjoyed FR's coliseum because of having to actively keep clicking over and over, so just watching battles play out is much nicer, in my opinion.

• Having a growing list of companions gives me long-term goals to work toward since I want to collect them all. With a good chunk of them being available via tickets/vouchers, it will take me some time to save up for everything.

• The artworks is so beautiful, it's what drew me to the site in the first place and I'm excited to see even more species and markings in the future!

• Custom apparel! This is such a cool collaborative feature that I think really makes customizing your wolves more enjoyable. For me, it also creates more long-term goals as I find and save for more pieces to dress up wolves in my ever-growing den.

• The website design itself is very clean! A lot of pet sites can be very busy or just have a childish design, but Lorwolf is easy to navigate and super sleek looking.

While there's always going to be things to improve on, I think Lorwolf is doing more things right than wrong and I'm really excited to see where things go for this site.

This kind of helps me figure out something I've been struggling to articulate. Comparing things to Neopets usually isn't received well, but I loved Neopets when I was a young kid. That site was absolute magic to me. I've played a lot of other pet games including Flight Rising and none of them have come even close to capturing me like that, and I've never been too sure how much is because of the sites or because I'm not a kid anymore.

Somehow this site actually did manage to bottle some of that magic? And it's done so when I'm in my 30's. Like, I'm trying to get a mortgage over here.

Right? Neopets was the first of its kind, so as a kid it was crazy to be on the Internet playing on a site like that! I remember playing with friends at sleepovers, it's such a nostalgic feeling. Of course, comparing it to modern day Neopets is way different, I'd much rather be on Lorwolf than current Neopets.

It's never going to be exactly the same feeling, but in terms of pet sim sites, Lorwolf has me as excited as a certified adult can be haha.

yeah honestly I think you're both right. something about how the site is so easy to navigate, but still has all these silly little activities feels like the fun of browsing neopets, to me? I joined neopets late, but the feeling of exploration in it is something I think a lot of pet sites try and fail to get, since they end up just being tedious. but seeing my wolf in the mine actually pushing the cart gives me the feeling of sending my neopet to school in terms of weird, fun immersion I think??

Honestly, I could say so much, and so much of it has already been said. For starters, I'll say that this game is so much fun that I'm still as addicted to it as I was during launch. There are literally endless activities to get lost in, including the endless profession loop.

• The artwork is so beautiful and I find myself admiring so much of it, including the landscapes in the campaign, fishing scenery, and the characters like Koda and Kavi. Everything honestly. It's obviously that so much time and passion went into the artwork just as much as everything else.
• I honestly love the layout and the way the site is designed, and I appreciate the dark mode feature so much.
• CA? I can't say enough about how much I love that. I still can't get over how awesome it is.
• I love how fast the devs respond to feedback and it shows how much they want the site to grow. I also love watching small things get updated live that are noted in the patch notes; little things I see and think "That's a small thing, but they'll make that better in time", then I see it happen. I truly feel that there's so much going for this site and that it has SO much potential in the little things and big things.
• I love just how smoothly this site has ran since launch. I anticipated lots of lag and server issues, but it's been incredibly minimal.
• I love how there's so many long-term goals to strive for, like collecting all of the companions for example. Also, that you can't get the profession shop ones all in one go (unless I'm missing something lol) and that you actually have to play and save up for so many in general, then how they bring in their unique attacks, abilities, and synergies to their team.

I could say so much more, but I'll stop here to keep it short. Of course, there's still things that need to be balanced, but the site has barely been open for a little more than a month and a half, and there have been so many updates and patches already. I feel that the update to the wolf release payout is huge, and probably a huge step in balancing the economy, so I think that's going to be very beneficial (although, I've never been a part of a pet site since launch before, so I'm no expert X3). There's been so much negative feedback lately that a thread like this is really nice ^^
