Welcome back everyone, and happy first week of spooky time!
We are deviating from our normal development update format to bring you a very important announcement - we’ve settled on a beta release date for March of 2022!
We know that you all are excited for beta and hoped that it would launch before the end of the year (we were extremely hopeful as well). However, in the end we feel this was the best choice for us, and for the game.
Our number one goal has always been to make Lorwolf the best that it can be, which means not compromising on the quality or amount of content. We are so proud of this amazing community that has grown with us, and we are so thankful for all of the comments, questions, suggestions, and feedback over the years that have helped shape Lorwolf into what it is today. We always try to be as transparent and open as possible, so while this may be disappointing news, we hope that the results of our labor will be apparent once beta is ready to launch. It is still pedal-to-the-metal from now until then so stay tuned for further development updates, Youtube videos, and social media giveaways that will be coming here shortly down the road. To give you an idea of where we’re at now, here’s a list of what we will be tackling over the next several months:
- Framework upgrade and server hosting conversion
- Campaign
- Color wheel expansion
- Designer items
- Internal testing
- Economy/combat/loot balancing
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
What's new?
- Cooking Showcase
- Companion Speedpaint - Echecara
Cooking Showcase
Food plays a very important role within Lorwolf. Every action depletes a wolf’s stamina bar, so players must carefully manage their food stores in order to do most of the activities in the game. Cooking will be the only way to upgrade raw food items so they become more effective in keeping your wolves full.
For example, most raw ingredients will be listed as a common food item. Common food items restore 2 points of stamina, uncommon food restores 10 points of stamina, rare restores 25 points, and so on. Thumbs, our friendly NPC, will handle all of the cooking—simply give him the ingredients and he will have your meal cooked and ready to eat after a short period of time!
Here is our Cooking page in action:
All raw ingredients from your inventory will be listed under the “Raw Food” section. Placing those ingredients in the “Cooking Pot” will show any available recipes you can cook. Once you’ve discovered a new recipe, it will be saved in the “Saved Recipes” sections so you know how to cook it again later. Complex recipes require multiple ingredients but yield better quality food!
Below is an example of how to make Black Raspberry Jam:
Players must level up their Cooking skill in order to cook more complex recipes. Trying to cook something too far over your abilities will trigger a “High burn chance,” which will burn your food to ash!
Here are some of the cooked foods you can currently make in the game:
