Name: Abalone
Age: adult
Gender: demigirl
Pronouns: she/they
Sexuality: bisexual - open for romantic plots, feel free to message if you want to work something out!
Rank: worker - they specialize in crafting and fishing
Personality: Abalone comes across to the rest of the MoonGlow pack as a reserved but ultimately friendly wolf. Some may interpret their quiet nature as shyness, but she more often exudes a sense of peacefulness or a silent confidence than anything close to fear. She doesn't like to talk about herself in detail, even wolves who consider her to be a friend may be surprised to realize they know very little of their history, although they will also find them less stiffly polite and more jovial than less companionable wolves would. This separation is intentional; Abalone wishes to keep others at a tail’s length out of a desire to protect herself and, most importantly, her children. They are consistently wary of this new pack they have stumbled into, especially as the darkness encroaches. She prefers to watch how others interact rather than get herself involved with their situations directly, and she does not want to form close attachments within the pack due to her pessimistic expectations of having to abandon it sometime in the future. They also have a bad habit of shutting down and falling into avoidant behavior in the face of negative emotions (both their own and those of others) which is often detrimental to their relationships.
Description: A soft-spoken lupin with lightly striped cyan fur, bright teal eyes, a yellow-green undercoat, and ink dark fur on their paws and muzzle. Her coat is naturally on the shorter side, but it has a soft, dense texture. Abalone has strong legs and a deep chest, though she is not particularly tall. Her paws are broad and webbed to aid in their swimming strokes, and her eyes flash oddly in low light with the night-sight that comes from her oceanic heritage. She wears little by way of accessories, simple metal piercings in each ear and the occasional necklace or bracelet bearing shells being the most she will bother to adorn. Their pelt is always scented faintly with sea salt and the clean smell of truly fresh fish.
Relations: Riptide - father - deceased NPC. Shark - ex-mate - living NPC. Urchin - living son - played by SirenSolis. Three unnamed & living daughters - open to adopt!!

Tl;dr: Abalone’s father was the leader of a pack and she is expected to take over his role when he dies. As a young wolf she hates the idea and spends a lot of time avoiding him on the edge of the territory, when she meets a rogue named Shark. They become friends and develop mutual crushes quickly, and once Shark joins Abalone’s pack they get married. Tragically, Abalone’s father dies suddenly soon after the wedding in a suspicious fashion, and she is made leader. However, her grief prevents her from doing the job well, and Shark instead steps up to the mantle while she takes time to recover. Under his guidance the pack expands its size greatly, but Shark begins to show his ruthless and cruel nature. During this time Abalone has a litter of four pups: three girls and a sickly boy she names Urchin. Even as the boy’s health recovers he remains clumsy and unconfident; Shark detests this weakness in his son and treats him with disdain. Abalone does what they can to push back against their mate’s harsh words, but ultimately they come to the realization that their children are not safe near him. Abalone runs from the only home they’ve ever known with her four children in tow. They take refuge with a smaller pack for a time, but the wolves within are unwilling to keep the five of them long-term and they are forced to move on. Finally they come to the territory of the MoonGlow pack, and while they did not intend to join at first, Abalone decides to join up with the strangers for as long as it remains better than the alternative of wandering the wilds with four vulnerable children. She promises to work harder than any wolf in the pack to make up for the burden of feeding her four growing pups, and so far she has done well to hold true to her word.
