No support, for several reasons.

- If I'm hunting for WWs it's because I want a WW, not a 2+ gen.

- Wolves need to be removed from the system for performance/data/back-end stuffs

- For lore reasons or other personal reasons, if I release a wolf, I want it released. If I wanted someone else to have it, I would've sold it instead

- If the previously released wolf magically turns into a WW rather than a 2+ gen, it'd make previously KS or MM-exclusive breeds readily available as WW (for free!) which completely ruins the point of having KS and MM exclusive breeds.

No support, that wolf belonged to someone else and it was their decision to release them and remove them from the game. Imagine if a user had blocked someone, released a wolf, only to find it in the blocked person's den down the road. That's the kind of problem this feature would present.

I would be in favor of something else like a way to reverse a wolf release in a certain timeframe after it happens for people to revert accidental releases, however.

No support, its a cute idea, but to echo the sentiments of others: If im in campaign WW hunting, I want a g1 out of it. also, it would just make me feel uncomfortable finding a wolf someone else released. not sure why, just doesnt leave a good taste in my mouth...

Id also like to reiterate that the point of releasing wolves is to remove their data from the site. keeping an endless amount of wolves in circulation like this isn't the point of the system and couod be bad for the site in the long term.

A slight modification to the OP's suggestion would be a separate almost lottery like way for people to 'adopt' wolves?

E.g. Player 1 wants to free up space/remove a wolf from their den. They can take one of two possible actions.

Action 1: Traditional/Full Release (wolf removed from the system and not able to be reclaimed)

Action 2: Conditional Release/New Space (wolf released from players Den, but could be reclaimed by someone else. To help with back end stuff, wolves released under this action could then transfer to "Full Release" if they are unclaimed within a certain number of days.

This isn't a fully fleshed out suggestion so others are more than welcome to add to it/I might come back and edit this later.

No support. I’m sorry, it’s a fun idea, but I want WWs to remain G1 and random.

In theory maybe this could be a different system from WWs, like a wandering caravan helping wolves find new homes with a special marker on the wolves’ profile or something, but left G2? I don’t really know. Whatever it is I’d like to leave WWs intact.

Absolutely support. I've seen people post wolves that I'd love to have, but they just....release them.

I loved this in Lioden, and i love it in Wajas as 'released' wajas are found in the park.

Maybe something akin to that? Offer a higher payout for releasing a wolf into the forest to find a new home vs sending them into the void?

The released would could also be 'reset', to then be a Gen1, no ties to the parents, and they can be removed from the offspring list?

It'd be nice to find some nicely-bred WWs!

No support.

Because wolves live forever the population is just going to keep snowballing, and not being able to permanently release wolves would just exacerbate that. I could see it working on a site where the wolves die, but not here.

No support. Removing a wolf from the game is a player's choice and there are many reasons for doing so. It's not always about profit or den space. A breeder uses this to control how and when puppies from their lineage go out into the world. I don't want that choice interfered with or taken back in a way that's beyond their control. Even if the released wolves are reverted to G1s, still no support. Let similar looking WW get generated by chance naturally. Nothing should impact the rarity of certain colors other than good old RNG.

As nice of an idea as it is, no support for the same reasons many have listed. I release wolves to keep names intact in offspring lists, and releasing is currently the only way to clear up den space while doing that. I like that WWs are G1/not connected to other lairs and I wouldn't want that to change.

If released wolves origins are wiped, the problem of KS/MS breed G1s being obtainable as WWs would dishonor the fact that a lot of folks paid real money or saved a bunch of in game currency to use breed changes on their wolves and devalue that in a way I wouldn't be comfortable with. Retaining wolf data for released wolves would also be a pain I imagine.

I also would personally be against finding G2+ wolves as WWs if they retain their roots because WWs are currently the only way to gain a G1/wolf unconnected to other accounts. I would rather purchase a G2+ from someone because I want that wolf in my den than have it forced upon me when the goal is a G1.

No support for reasons already stated by others. I purposely generate fodder wolves for money, and some of them really don't look good. I don't think people would appreciate finding one of my random Lost Souls that I've sent out into the world. If someone really wants a Lost Soul they should just buy one from me, I'm constantly selling pups
