I was just thinking that it would be really cool if after you released any wolves, others could randomly find them as Wild Wolves occasionally. That way they wouldn't be truly gone.
Just a random idea for you. :)

Would the wolf be newly regenerate with the look of the released wolf, or would it be the actual same wolf? Because the first is fine, but the second not so much. People might have released the wolf to keep their name intact in their offspring list.
No Support. This could lead to a lot of drama down the line, and would drive the want for WW's more so than it is already.
I'm a little hesitant to support since, as far as I understand, WWs only come in the three starter breeds and markings. Implementing this would mean being able to find "rare" traits on WWs, and while that would be really really cool, I worry people might not be keen on the idea, as it would "devalue" the traits or something. Additionally, the site would have to save some data of released wolves to have them show up as WWs again, which might not be considered feasible.
Another game I play has a feature like this, and I do enjoy it there, but it's a very different landscape wrt how traits and pets in general are valued. It just might not work here.
I do and don't like this.
Positives:
When the site gets bigger and there is a higher percentage of bred wolves that look nice, it would be a nice surprise to get a released wolf as your WW!
This would also help curb some of the disappointment with WWs since a lot of players experience long waiting periods of no WWs, and then they get a kind of hideous one.
Lioden also does this and I think it's pretty successful over there. At least from my experience there really isn't too much drama and a lot of people release nice looking lions just so other players can get a nice surprise.
Negatives:
Unlike Lioden, LW has a breed that is limited to Kickstarter patrons (at least the scrolls are). So unless you made the feature so that Braccs cannot appear, I can foresee a lot of issues. For instance, if someone has a Bracc pair, they could release all the children who would then become unbred gen 1 Braccs.
Unfortunately I agree with VNX on the data issue. FR only allows you to go back so far to restore exalted dragons because the point of exalting is partially to get rid of the data. I'm not sure exactly what Lioden does to elevate this (beyond your lions not living forever), but I don't think Lorwolf is quite up to that level of technical ability just yet.
Sort of support, there are pros and cons to this. Maybe there should be an option to choose whether or not the wolf could be findable to another player or if the wolf would remain unfindable.
I’ve reconsidered, definitely a no support now from me on second thought.
A lot of players Like WWs specifically for being the randomly generated G1s. It would've been neat if the game started out with this, but changing it now will lead to a lot of unneeded controversy
While this is a cool idea, I'm not sure how it'd fly with the current actively WW hunting group of players
I Would however, support a Separate feature that lets you meet released wolves [which would still get properly deleted after a time because we do not have infinite server resources, do we?]
The kickstarter breed would eventually stop being rare due to players breeding enough [think imperials on FR. just because the scrolls are inaccessible doesn't mean there aren't plenty imps at fodder price these days] so players being able to obtain one via this hypothetical separate feature wouldn't actually 'ruin' the balance all that much
I have no problems with this tbh.
Perhaps as a separate feature though, especially if G2's count as this, because people go for WWs to get new G1s. Imagine getting that event and getting a G2 instead. Yeah, that could be a problem.
Also, maybe when you go to release, perhaps there could be a checkbox saying if you want it to be found by someone else or released permanently. That would help with people who want them to stay with certain names or whatever.
And I don't think finding Bracchuses from this is a bad idea. Look at FR: Imperials have one of the highest populations on the site if not the highest. I imagine Bracchuses will eventually end up the same way. They'll stop being rare, especially since I see they're quite loved.
no support.
I dont want another wolvden/lioden!
No support. A feature that removes pets from the site is very important for the site's performance/backend. They should be removed, not kept around for someone else to find. Additionally, if I release a wolf, it's because I want it out of the system for one reason or another - maybe it's actually important to me that someone else not have it for lore reasons!
