I think Lorwolf has enormous potential and a lot of good going for it. The fact that the gameplay loop is already satisfying, Custom Apparel is already implemented, and that all of these things come with a casual-leaning pet sim system with no pet death is a bigger deal than people give credit for. LW is definitely a leg up from DV when it comes to addressing criticism, and a huge leg up from FR in terms of early-launch game performance. While people are right to compare games when it comes to which is the most enjoyable use of their limited time, LW is still factually further along than those games were at the same point in their development.

Yet if there is no significant rebalance for pebbles and moonstones, nor accounting for the fact that not everyone can grind excessively, LW's going to really struggle. At the end of the day, the choice to spend money or multiple hours per day on a pet sim should be left to the individual. When they become mandatory to make any game progress, you're going to lose a lot of players. I feel like a lot of people are in the phase of giving Lorwolf a shot because of how new it is, but are very likely to leave if concerns aren't addressed. I am definitely cautiously optimistic for the June update, (Apparently it will be addressing currency issues) and a lot is riding on it if that's the case.

pretty good! but with most sites, it's fairly rocky at the start

lorwolf is a wonderful idea for a site. it managed to suck me in and got me Knee Deep in the cooking recipe mechanic (i love mythical wildlife. and also food). i like the lore a lot and the synergy strategies too!

however the currency issue is Not Great!! it's negatively affecting f2p & casual players real bad, which isn't a great first impression >_> im really hoping the june update will at least ease some of the moonstone issues, and it probably will!

Hopefully well :D

They have been making lots of changes, most good and some questionable. As long as the people are happy the game should be fine.

Edit: it looks like they implemented a users online count on the menu. 489 currently.

That being said I do think they need to fix the pebble economy and add more pebble wearables, as a main drive behind pet sites is dressing said pets up

^ I definitely agree! I’m feeling that I have to spend too much real currency to dress up my wolves - it doesn’t feel right. Hopefully nice pebble attire will come in time with monthly events or something. I guess we just have to be patient. I really like this site so far otherwise.

I’m glad there isn’t a counter on this site. I think it can be detrimental. Sometimes when I look at counters on other sites and if lots of peeps aren’t playing, it actually affects how I feel about playing - like - there aren’t enough people on here, the site is dying, why should I play anymore - when I otherwise might still be enjoying myself. Also, there are times of highs and lows when people play certain sites.

Also I see that sometimes sites want to please everyone (or placate the squeaky wheels) and end up making changes that are detrimental to the site/game. People need a purpose and a goal. When things are made too easy, things are less appreciated and become less enjoyable. I hope this site doesn’t make that same mistake and finds a nice balance. One change I‘m not crazy about is that the chances of finding a WW is less now because of the introduction of knucklebones. It was great how it was originally in my opinion.

I think the small team is overwhelmed a bit in the face of everything going on, and that eventually it'll smooth out. I mean… they are listening to concerns, or at least watching the suggestions forum. I just think people in general need to get past the, ‘this change needs to take place immediately’ because there's a lot of thought that can go into changes and how to handle them.

^ Yes!

Currently I don't feel like it will be. They will have plenty of time to make changes and rebalance but from what I see so far I'm expecting it to end up with a smaller community of dedicated users but a lot players leaving due to the need to grind mooonstones/spend money. If current trends continue I'm expected to end up a bit like Aywas where it takes a huge number of hours get anything of value resulting in few casual players staying with the game

FR had two things going for it over LW in its early stages.

A highly respected artist folks followed the KS for and a close-knit community. There was no Discord. Folks were using IRC and it wasn't anywhere near the monster Discord was for community-devouring.

Users need to actively encouraged to use the forums more. It's not a good look to see a barren wasteland as a newbie for forums and get told to log on a third-party site to fully engage with other users.

If this can be managed I think LW has a good future. There are a lot of other points that are being brought up I agree with but yeah, I figure I'd mention this since others haven't spoken about it.

I feel like they need to incentivize the breeding sim elements more. Wild wolves can't keep up the economy forever and right now, since the releasing rewards are so bad and everyone solely wants G1s, there's literally no point in breeding wolves.

After the dev update not addressing the economy concerns and seems to mostly serve as a distraction with shiny things, my little optimism has pretty much left me.

As with Coop, if they're not going to address such a major concern within the community I have no doubts people are going to start leaving. Adding a few new companions for pebbles doesn't fix an economy so heavily based on moonstones and real money. I want to love this game, but I'm just worried that we aren't being as heard as they want us to think. The staff keeps covering up these issues with promises of new breeds and small quality of life updates. It'll stop working at some point.

I was on the optimistic side but this dev update has me a little concerned. The thing is, the steps they're taking are good in themselves -- they're addressing needs with new features like auto-fishing and bulk bone paste, and they're giving us more pebble sinks, which will help even out the economy at least a little (fingers crossed).

But ... the way they've framed it and rolled it out is, at the least, a little tone-deaf. Going "What awesome new feature should we work on next?" when the forums are speculating over whether the site will survive ... I would have appreciated some kind of note in the update that they're aware of and working on the balancing issues, and I think the poll is premature -- I want the base site polished and balanced before they start any new big projects.
