It's really interesting to read the opinions here

Lorwolf is the 3rd game I've seen the launch of.

The 1st being furvilla, which is dead

And the 2nd being Dappervolk which is…. Seems to be around 300ish active users a day which is good?

I do think Lorwolf had a better launch then those 2 but that's just going off of memory.

I hope it does well. The site art looks neat and seems to have potential.

But right now I still prefer FR.

On here I can't buy a lot of the cool things w/o MS and meanwhile I have a ton of pebbles piling up. It also still feels super grindy to me- but maybe that's because I'm not a fan of endless tasks.

I like having an end in sight, which FR dailies provide & then I can choose if I want to stick around and make my own fun through visiting forums, the coli, writing lore, etc. With the endless activities on here I don't feel like I really accomplish anything :/

But that's a personal preference ofc

So while I do hope for those who really love it here that LW does well, I'm not sure I'll continue doing more than lurking and occasionally using the forums or doing the campaign story. It just feels like there's a long way to go to solidify/balance the gameplay

I'm going to give it a couple of updates to see how the devs respond to all (rightfully raised) concerns and criticisms.

If it doesn't look good after that, I might start trading back to FR.

I think the small team is overwhelmed a bit in the face of everything going on, and that eventually it'll smooth out. I mean… they are listening to concerns, or at least watching the suggestions forum. I just think people in general need to get past the, ‘this change needs to take place immediately’ because there's a lot of thought that can go into changes and how to handle them.

(Has anyone else noticed that the molemart has suddenly more items? If I recall the small molemart was a concern in terms of bottlenecking recipes and crafting progression.)

I am having a lot of fun with Lorwolf, and am very much hoping it will succeed. I do think it's longitivity will completely depend on how things go moving forward.

Honestly I think /any/ new pet-sim is going to have an uphill battle to please folks with Flight Rising around as the gold standard. They've had what, 9+ years? To perfect game play/economic balancing and build up assets.

Not to mention players having time equity built up there. The pet sim world isn't the same as it was 9 years ago. Players see what a community values the most and might not “waste” their time on things that don't have that perceived community value. Like gen1/2 wolves being the main sellers.

Personally, I like the gameplay loop, almost always have something to do. Arena is fun when I have time, I love messing about with the gauntlet!

I think the economy is what will make or break things. I feel that we need more clothing options (or things in general) that use pebbles. I like that MS can be generated through game play but it it doesn't feel great having the “main” currency be premium. I want to dress my wolves up! I don't have 10+ dollars to spend on everone in my lair…

If the Lorwolf dev team shows the community as a whole that they're listening and making decisions in good faith I have hope. The site runs smoothly (as I've experienced anyway), the art is beautiful, the games so far are fun. They have a lot going for them!

I think it'll be OK.

The main comparison I can make is to Dappervolk, which I joined on day one of beta, and that site's still plugging along despite all its issues. In comparison, at least Lorwolf has somewhat enjoyable gameplay and seems to have made some efforts to address its flaws. Dappervolk is three years into full launch and I think at this point they're hoping people will just forget about the features that were promised in the Kickstarter.

I think it's hard to gauge its future when it barely made its first month, but I'm cautiously optimistic. It might be easier to make a guess once we have the next update.

For something that requires devs to balance gameplay and be economists, it's pretty good and fun - though ofc there's things that need ironing out. I love LW because in theory I can put it down and pick it up whenever. When I played FR sometime during its registration window era I got weirdly stressed out about maintaining the energy level (among other things). I hated seeing it go down and I just… never logged back in.

My worry with LW is that the devs can't take action quicker than their players lose interest, but like others have mentioned it seems that other petsites had a rockier launch and are still kicking. Fingers crossed!

This game reminds me alot of early flightrising. If we have the next breed and gene set or two be pebbles, I feel like things will perk up a bit as it will be easier for players to make breeding/gen 1 projects. You can't really do many project when all the fancy genes are MS exclusive.

I like it here! I think it’s a fun site, the wolves genetic system is pretty cool and makes getting the rare cohesive color scheme feel more satisfying when you finally hit. I have to admit at first I wanted to get lots of WWs. But after playing for a little bit longer and watching the forums, the excitement I feel when I finally hit a successful WW encounter is so high! It wouldn’t feel that way if they weren’t so rare. Then the flood of WWs would NEVER stop, making them cheaper on the market, but the only reason people are farming them seems to be to sell them. So if that’s the case its kind of a shot in your own foot to want to encounter lots of them. Reading through the suggestions section, even though there are lots of valid points as well, I worry we’re going to get something like Minecrafts Phantom. A lot of the time it seems devs should be trusted to do their own phenomenal work for the absolute most part, because people tend to not be very careful about what they wish for. So I do hope players keep that kind of stuff in mind when deciding if they want to stay or not. I do think that the economy is scary unstable though. With the enormous gap between people who aren’t p2p, I’m not even sure that there are enough players buying MS and then selling them for pebbles, so there’s not even much of a chance for people willing to convert. A huge change would be too much, but the numbers on the MS seem to need tweaked to me so that people who can’t spend IRL $ on MS can feel satisfied enough early on to stay on the site. I think I would have already jumped ship if I hadn’t scraped money together to buy some MS. I don’t want to see the game go!
