heya I just got this back for one of my CA submissions and uh

my submission is a 30 MS doodle I made for funsies. I'm not a big fan of sites making users pay money to get their art added to sites in general! it's super ethically questionable, but LW has been so kind and willing to accept all sorts of skill levels and finishes, so I had been having fun with it.

this! is nitpicking! this is so much work for the mods and for the artists! I am not being paid to produce professional art, I am paying LW, in fact?

I have no intention of cleaning up my art to search for stray pixels unless I get paid by the hour for it, honestly! could you please maybe calm down with this and just loosen up the ruling back to how it was?

06/07/2023 edit - Took a while to take a break from the site because I realized this was pretty genuinely upsetting me and I'm finally coming back to just add some things:

1. I do not blame lorwolf or any of the admins or mods and I am not angry at them, I am just angry at the ruling

2. everything desnik says 100%.

3. I think all the confusion within the thread about what stray pixels even are is evidence that the technical skill for this varies a lot between users and creates a much larger barrier than might have been anticipated.

I have permanent nerve damage from trying to survive off underpaid freelance art sales, and I'm not capable emotionally or physically of meeting the new standards. If it is ruled that the site is better off without me or other similarly disabled artists contributing, that's fine, but I would like my moonstones back.

…Considering the amount of stray pixels and bleedthrough in the templates themselves, it feels very unfair to nitpick users to this level when the official artists are not held to the same standard. Support.

Like, this is acceptable for official site art, but CA is held to a higher standard?

it might, otherwise, be nice if there were a way to refund my token and get back my moonstones? because I know nothing I submit in the future is going to be that clean either and I'd rather not pretend it will

@bobthedragon I absolutely agree. I waited two weeks to get declined because my pixels strayed only slightly out of of lines, there was a single black stray pixel, and my description just mentioned one of my wolves names.
you couldn’t notice the stray pixels without over analyzing it, and the description only mentioned that it had been ‘crafted from the armies of acwulf’. It’s nitpicky.
This isn’t hate towards the admins, but I agree that we shouldn’t be held to standards they themselves can’t commit to.

yeah, you both get me. I honestly don't mind waiting! but being turned down because a few stray transparent pixels escaped my line-art is??? pointless honestly? not only will it only be displayed at ½ size on site, but tracking down things that can't be seen at a glance is a waste of the mods' time and absolutely a waste of artists' time!

big love to the admins and mods and everything. I don't think you realized how this affects us when you made the choices, but each apparel is 12 drawings, often drawn uniquely and I'm not about to go re-export and upload after hunting down invisible marks!

I feel like there's three different issues here.

First of all I think it's fine for lorwolf to say they don't want color bleed on CA. They want the art to look good, and stray pixels don't look good. I realize this is more work but honestly I think it's a choice people get to make how much they want to engage with the CA system.

The templates and custom wolf art should be cleaned if they have bleed, though I have my doubts because I imported the same wolf and see zero bleed, so I'm not sure what is going on there. Checked other breeds and also don't see any bleed. Proof:

Third issue: if a person is unable to or does not want to complete their CA the token should be refunded. I think perhaps the token should only be taken once the CA is approved to prevent this issue.

I generally don't think users should be disallowed making custom items and such for art that isn't similar to the site's style/"quality".

That said, I do feel that artists and CA makers (when selling to others) owe it to those that buy their items a certain level of quality. I would be extremely disappointed to buy a custom item and equip it to my wolf only to see that it has strange pixels super out of place in a way that doesn't make sense for the item and looks messy.

My concern here completely disappears if we have better preview ability for custom items when purchasing them, but until then I don't support a loosening of CA requirements.

I could be wrong but some of the bleed on small resolution images seems to purely be artifacting (might be the wrong term) from the original resolution being reduced so much. Lorewolf does not merge all layers of a wolf when they are generated and instead layers are stacked, a little like a paper dress up doll.

Re: below - If it's a final render issue they just need to trim the base to being 1px inside the lines, then reupload the templates. Shrink should have then have space to expand if that's happening.

Related to @/Tserin's post I seriously don't understand how that line bleed/image crust happens:

It seems really random.

However I strongly agree that it's very strange to expect players to adhere to very strict art standards that the site cannot keep up themselves.

If it's a resizing issue for the bleed then staff is asking players to keep the quality they have themselves-the original and full sized wolves don't have bleed, it's a programing/resizing issue that needs to be fixed (and should be reported as a bug if not already).

Edit: the problem below should also possibly be reported as a bug. Zero bleed should be a standard for the site.

Edit: Just wanted to pop in that Quiche and I are talking about the templates and it seems to be an inconsistent issue, and might be an issue with specific programs! But its getting looked into.

I'd just like to point out that the original templates, provided for CA artists, have a bunch of stray pixel issues as well. This is an example from a CA I was working on earlier today. I have a wolf upsized to scale I was using as reference, but the pixels themselves were part of the base layer.
