This suggestion stems mostly from the incredible ease with which one can make mistakes and buy and/or apply the wrong gene to their wolf. I think this largely stems from the fact that all 3 genes have the same name, with the only distinction being top, under and accent. Even the prices are exactly the same.
The ideal solution, IMO would be to do away with 3 seperate items, and instead make a gene 1 item, that can be applied in 3 different slots. When selecting the gene in the inventory, the menu to apply it to a wolf pops up. You select a wolf and then select a gene slot (top, under or accent) to apply the gene to.
Pros:
- Less items in the MM (which on the long run would be one big mess)
- Less chance to purchase the wrong gene
Cons:
- A risk to apply the gene in the wrong slot will always remain.. It could be minimized with a (larger) preview of the wolf with said gene applied to the selected slot before finalizing the decision
I can imagine this change isn't super easy or quick to do. A (temporary) alternative that could be at least implemented in the mean time is to make sure that the order of the genes in the demo, the MM and the hoard have the same order. Currently this is not the case, making it that much easier to mess up and waste precious moonstones. A friend of mine accidentally bought and applied the wrong Stripes gene before noticing the error. That's 75ms (or $7.50!!) down the drain.
