While I think this is likely an unintentional thing with the new update, this could very well be intentional. If it is supposed to be this way, I do ask that this be taken as a suggestion.
When shortening how much currency you have, for example: 1.1k, you can hover over the amount to see that you may actually have less than that. I realized I was about 30 Pebbles short of a purchase even though it looked like I had enough. I think that the shortening should only happen while you are actually within the actual range-- at or above.
