I heard some people saying they favor Arena over Gauntlet. But I feel I have to constantly babysit Arena and I still don't have much control other than refreshing and buying as much as possible. I mastered the star system, but it's still heavily based on the cards you're dealt. And if you can't get enough regen cards early enough, it's a slog. Like I won but 5 tickets + 2k felt really underwhelming for the time I poured into it. At least with the Gauntlet, I don't have to constantly keep refreshing and buying and all that.

playing arena to me is more about the experience than the end goal. i love the subcommunity of arena players, we're competitive & enjoy playing together. it's fun to learn the meta & see who has the strongest team- because oh Boy is there a meta, LOL. intersect is absolutely busted & so is coordinate.

each game does take a long time & a lot of babysitting, you're absolutely right about that. from a purely economic standpoint, gauntlet is more worth it. for how much time & effort it takes, arena should offer more rewards.

honestly? it's not worth it. I do arena because I find it fun, but it seriously needs to up the pebble rewards for how long it takes, rounds are typically 20 minutes on the short end and 30-40 minutes on average, and I've had 50-60mins on longer rounds. It's a lot of time for basically no reward except for the fun you might've had doing it.

other than the experience, it's only worth it if you want any of the familiars/apparel for yourself. and don't want to buy it.

I open arena in a side tab & play hard enough for 2 people to lose all their HP, then let myself lose and leave the game to get my participation ticket (usually once you hit 3 cards you can stop playing or let your paws stack enough for a bit to build a reserve then go buy a bunch of cards and sometimes win)

Yeah the arena is more of a specialized experience for a certain type of player/a way to "ironman" companions you might need for campaign without waiting for the MM restocks to be merciful

It is worth it if you like games like super auto pets or pvp or like to have an environment to test out party comps/synergies for free

It's also a nice achievement to grind out the exclusive familiars, because imo it's more satisfying to earn them than to buy em

I would absolutely appreciate better rewards for it but it's nice that I can semi actively play While Drawing without real detriment to either

Have there been any forum threads about arena strategy that go into that? I like playing the Arena but I'm not sure I know what you're referring to, besides the two tidbits you mentioned there (which I hadn't realized before).

Gauntlet is better per se.

But…Arena is fun! It's so much more fun!

You can actually do both at the same time though.

I've been trying Arena since beta and I still can't figure out synergy. I haven't really touched gauntlet though.

I guess if SylphOfHeart is anything like me, I'd say a bit of both. I, personally, don't even know what most trait signs do and how they work with each other. Arena has been pure time lot, a great mystery to me and the biggest disappointment of LW. Add to that the fact it's another RNG fest where your game can go sideways without anything you can do. If it were just for me, it wouldn't have made it past Beta.

During Beta Arena was dead. There were never any players on it, it was always bots and they were brutal.
