Cendres gazed down at the two pups by her belly, eyeing each one carefully for a few moments. Looking for any…. imperfections…. If there were any however, she was too tired to tell and instead turned her head to look out of the den where Winter was peeking in.

Winter dipped his head before also turning his attention to the pups. He and Cendres didn't love each other, but they did love the promises of what each offered. Cendres loved the control and strength Winter gave her. How she could dip her head and flick her tail and Winter would….. dispose of the problem. He had no doubt she was capable of doing so herself but this way it let her maintain her innocence, let her be the good and gentle to his bad and tough.

What he loved was the promise of power and riches. The way wolves would look at him as his reputation grew…. And what he loved right now was the fact she had given him a legacy. He walked in and dropped a rabbit near her front paws which Cendres accepted with a slow nod.

She turned, giving each pup a gentle lick on their forehead. It would be the first and likely last genuine display of affection they would get from her, any future displays of kindness would come with ulterior motives. But for now, she was content to wait.

She would help them grow, teach them to spread the word that what lived beneath the lake needed to be free.

But for now they were pups, and so Cendres layed down her head and rested.

I would genuinely not be disappointed to not have specifically the firstborn (especially if someone else has distinct lore regarding that), I'm happy to snag a baby from one of the other litters and my art will be available otherwise eventually as well, if that makes the decision easier. :]

@Fleetgay Thank you so much! <3 I have a whole doc of stuff but tl;dr my wolves are vampires (along with having many Mika-associated magical powers) due to the fact they are the Spirit Children of Mika, who I also headcanon as a vampire. They believe that firstborns are auspicious (which I implemented because I always feel sentimental about the firstborns of my pets on petsites and like keeping them), and they kind of have a reputation for being jerks because they have a habit of biting the firstborns of other litters as well >:3 Many pups come to them willingly to be bitten because they think being a vampire is the coolest thing ever, and many packs voluntarily offer their firstborns so they can become Spirit Children--especially Darkspines, because they understand the powers of Mika's Spirit Children best. But not all come to them this way. Both forms of biting tend to cause conflict between them and other wolves, because many parents would not want their firstborn children to become vampires, whether the pups willingly went to them or not.

@Dawn if you wanna discuss how this might fit in with your preexisting lore, I'd love to talk about it more in dms :33333 I'm open to doing any kind of timeline with Whispers and her parents, and if she gets to my pack she will have an auntie in Aurora Blessed and will likely be adopted into the same coven. She will also be assigned a bite-parent, aka the wolf that bit her, so I would flesh out the relationship between them as well!
