Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about a werewolf breed. It'd be super cool, yeah, but I feel a little weird having a humanoid breed, even if it's designed to only be vaguely humanoid. I'd prefer something quadruped-werewolf-inspired than an actual werewolf.

I guess given all the quests related to the wolves doing very human things, including scientific research, then I just don't really understand the problem. Maybe I'm too simple minded to ‘get it’ but oh well, tis a shame we can't have some of the coolest wolf inspired things in culture in a wolf game?

I just hope we don't go towards domestic dogs instead.

For me, personally, it's because at the end of the day it's also a breeding game and for me I would be extremely uncomfortable pairing a canine character who looks like a pretty normal wolf in some unusual colors with something my mind would probably read as a furry to be fully honest. I myself am a furry, I enjoy anthro animals a lot; but I would feel a bit weird about pairing werewolves with… just wolves, regardless of if the lore says they're equally intelligent. For me, the werewolfy ones would have to be more beast-like to avoid the weird optics of the situation.

If it was a companion suggestion of some kind, I would be 100% in support of were-beasts, similar to the beastclan companions on flightrising.

Edit; editing to clarify that I have 0 problems with the “ownership” of anthro characters. The player is already extremely abstract in this game and lorwolves are smart enough to form society and use tools they're able to manipulate, so I personally do not believe that the assumed intelligence of an anthro character would be the sticking point here so much as what I already said above.

@Coop7011 It's a stretch but I think the reason some are bothered is due to slavery connotations? What with werewolves typically being humanoid.

I don't see it as a problem, as the ‘player’ is either the lead wolf or non existent. The aren't a human who ‘owns’ the wolves as pets in lore after all.

The only way I could support this as a breed is if they ONLY breed with others of the same kind, or they were unbreedable at all.

Owning and breeding a humanoid creature just makes me feel really weird. The more humanoid pokemon for example make me really uncomfortable. Like I said, though, I'd be fine with something werewolf-inspired. Just not… actual werewolf as in wolf-that-is-actually-a-person or looks humanoid. Just a really big, beefy, vicious looking wolf.
