Introduction to the Raintree Pack
In the frigid north of Loria resides a large group of wolves known as the Raintree Pack. Spread all over the Icerun, these wind-torn wolves keep to themselves, choosing to deal with the threats to their land with swift and efficient ferocity. Their leader, Cleopatra, is a no-nonsense wolf cast aside by her previous pack and left for dead with no one but her mate Alexander batting an eye. Because of this, trust is hard won in the Raintree Pack, with outsiders needing to prove their worth to the pack before they are even permitted to speak to the higher-ups.
The wolves in Raintree Pack value loyalty above all else. Whether a wolf is born into the pack or adopted into its ranks, they must prove their loyalty through their actions, as words are as brittle as snowflakes. To do so, young wolves must go through the Rites of Passage, a series of tests and challenges designed to prove their worth and commitment to the pack. These tests include hunting and tracking trials and physical challenges to demonstrate strength and endurance, concluding with a duel between the highest-ranking wolf available and the initiate. Only those who successfully complete the Rites of Passage are welcomed as full members of the Raintree Pack.
The Raintree Pack is also known for their unique howl, which can be heard echoing across Icerun. This howl is an intricate melody that can only be sung in perfect harmony by the pack's members. It is believed that this howl is used to communicate with other packs in the area, and possibly even to send messages to other dens in the region. However, the exact purpose of the Raintree Pack's howl remains a mystery to outsiders.
Despite their fierce reputation, the Raintree Pack is actually quite hospitable to those who prove themselves worthy. They are known to offer protection to travelers passing through their territory, provided that they show respect and follow the pack's rules. In fact, some have even been known to join the pack permanently, choosing to adopt the Raintree Pack's way of life and become loyal members of the pack themselves. However, outsiders who do not show proper respect or who threaten the pack's territory will quickly learn the true ferocity of the Raintree wolves.
Pack History:
The Raintree Pack was founded by Cleopatra and Alexander, two wolves who were cast aside by their previous pack. They were left for dead, with no one but each other for company. Together, they forged a new path and founded the Raintree Pack. Their leadership style was no-nonsense, demanding loyalty and respect from their followers. Over time, the pack grew in size and strength, becoming a respected and feared presence in the frigid north of Loria.
It is rumored that the Raintree Pack has a close relationship with the spirits of Icerun. The shamans of Raintree are known to howl into the icy silence of the night, and rumor has it that the howls open the very skies, producing beautiful alternating colors that paint the sky. While the truth remains a mystery to outsiders, it is clear that the Raintree Pack is deeply connected to the land they call home and that their way of life is as much a part of Icerun as the snow and ice themselves.
