Just learned we can delete our own posts from this laugh Thanks.
Everything else.. yeah.. the forums (and bios too, to be fair) are a bit wonky. Steep, STEEP learning curve. Not being able to link our wolves pictures is super odd, but I am sure there are reasons (server space? Maybe?)
Pro-tip: CTRL+Shift+V will paste text without formatting. Works in other platforms such as Google Docs as well (not Word, though, because Word is bad. boo)
Also, for bullet points, hold Shift and then hit enter to not have the awkward empty bullet spacings.
Here are some of my own forum suggestions to maybe add to the list, or not:
Forum boards and threads need better visuals. Right now they just swim in a sea of white (on light mode). Some dividing lines would go a long way with keeping things neat.
BBCode is 100% better than HTML. I kinda do appreciate the post editor especially for the CTRL+B (bold) and CTRL+I (italics) hotkeys, but in the long run it'd be more simple to have BBCode.
If we're gonna keep HTML, at least put an Image function in the formatting bar. That's the only common one missing for some reason.
Add a post preview. I tried using color before which showed in my editor but not on the actual post, so…a preview would be nice. Not just for those instances but also in general.
A better item code that isn't what we have now so we can embed items more seamlessly.
Fully agree, it's hard to enjoy the site much due to all the stuff not beeing their best lol, I'll just come back from times to times to gather supply and breed wolves to commission artists, but I think I'll stay on FR and DV for now
I agree with your points, and the tip with shift pasting is very helpful! Although I do still stand by my original point that it should default to the forum text, I'm glad there is at least a workaround. However, I tried the shift enter thing and there is a space between the bullet points when editing, but when I actually post it they are no longer spaced out. Idk maybe its something to do with bullet points specifically
Probably another Lorwolf editor quirk like the missing color I mentioned, then. Unfortunate! I absolutely agree pasting should be plaintext, I just wanted to mention a workaround for now.
I think the lack of default plaintext copying might be a symptom of browsers at large that the team might not be able to fix, since it's a common problem I see everywhere and not just here.
But big support on giving attention to the forums!
“View My Posts” definitely needs a visual change to make it more clear, and possibly needs a rename on either the button or the landing page. All of the wording and links lead to threads, not posts. I'd rather, instead of it being the deleting department, be turned into a thread subscription page so all the updates on threads you're following are there, where threads you've commented in automatically get added to the list.
The actual visual design of the posts needs to get slimmed down. There's so much padding around all the elements like the text box and the icon collum, it's so much white and it's bloating the size of the posts. Plus, it looks so weird to have so much empty space between the banner and the text.
I do support having a way to get to the last page of a thread at the top and bottom, but I don't support having a reply box on the first page. It's definitely annoying, especially on threads where you're only replying to the first post, but I think a lot of threads in different contexts need you to be replying to information that's shared after that first page. I can think of like; building on top of suggestions and ideas, knowing the current bid for a wolf, updates from others that aren't OP and can edit the first post, etc. Plus, I think it encourages posters to keep the momentum on the current topic, if something has been resolved or settled earlier on in a thread.
on the subject of linking wolves, Pixel Cat's End (another petsite) has this smooth nice system of being able to link a cat like this → [cat=cat ID]. it'd be cool if we could do something similar, especially since that type of inserting (for lack of better word) is already in the site (but only for items)
(also you can put spaces inbetween bulletpoints by pressing enter a second time after making a new bulletpoint)
THANK YOU I was wondering what was going on with the bulletpoint thing lol, tbh I do think they should have gaps by default but I'm glad there is a solution haha
Yes that would be such a simple and elegant solution, I really like that. I'd take any sort of built on way to show wolf images, its so silly to me that the pictures have to be hosted off-site
