Right now I only play the gauntlet when my activities list says I should. I find that the rewards aren't really enough to justify the high stamina cost, plus the risk of losing it all if I misjudge my wolves' health bars. Anyone feel differently?
I think it's a good source of pebbles, I just go to 6, get 2kp, reset, repeat. But I also have an excess of food, not sure if selling the food that would have been spent is more lucrative or not tbh.
I do think it should have more drops per battle, usually only get none or only 1 item a battle, which is pretty bad for what it is.
I have a fair few lvl10s that I've gotten from campaigning that I don't do much, so when I log in, using their stamina that's built up from the last time I logged in I use in the gauntlet, and I find it to be one of the most worthwhile uses of the stamina.
I've been doing a lot of gauntlet and trying out various teams, I think it becomes very worth it once you have a well synergized, full level 10 team composition to play with. I can pretty regularly get to level 11-12, which has nearly 10k pebbles in pure+ a glut of item rewards.
Sometimes I still lose to some rogue crits or bad RNG early (level 8 or so) which isn't usually so worth the food investment. I think it is pretty balanced rewards wise, could always be better though.
Run jocol/jocol/kit/furmus/furmus. If all leveled to 10 they will take you to level 10 almost every time--I've gotten as far as 12 after the nerf.
I run gauntlet almost constantly in the background. You don't actually have to watch it--just run a level, close the tab/navigate away, and come back later. They still regain their stamina while in gauntlet, so it's not much of a stamina drain if you play this way.
It's a modest source of pebbles and you can get rare drops from it. I've gotten quite a few shards and most memorably several roses from it.
I enjoy the gauntlet. I run it in the background while I draw or do other things (much like Rabscuttle). I have a focused gauntlet team. Once they run out of energy I just stop running it until they're rested up. I will say though, a lot of what I'm doing on the side isn't taking a lot of stamina: I mostly explore and craft/mine (and I have a dedicated miner that doesn't do anything but labor).
That being said, I have no idea if it's /worth/ my time or not. I've not really set down and mathed it out. It is one of my more favorite parts of the game though. I don't have to babysit it like say Arena, if I get distracted it's just time for my wolves to get some stamina back!
I think it's worth it because you can play other parts of the game while waiting between rounds, it gives a decent amount of pebbles after level 10, and clears an activity. Plus it's more fun than exploring forever. It doesn't feel like an unreasonable amount of stamina if you use 3 wolves.
