I'd love to see more fox like breeds! Red foxes, kitsune, snow foxes with fluffier coats, etc.

For markings I'd love to see a stripe that goes down the back and tail as a top or accent marking. A tail and ear tip accent marking, paw "stocking" marking, starry patterns, swirls and a lot of the other ideas people posted before me!

Breed:

Aardwolf I know they're technically a hyena but I think theyd be a neat smol breed something between zerda and kit.

Kitsune for a more Fantasy breed or just multi tailed fox of some sort if not wanting to step on cultural toes so to speak

Pattern:

Another set of Striped Patterns akin to the Aardwolfs

Or possibly a Points pattern

A Dappled Pattern could be interesting

Alrighty, five suggestions per post…well I for sure want to spend my first two agreeing

1. Hyena-based breed, each irl species is very unique in it own way!

2. African Wild Dog-based breed or patterns, these are just gorgeous and their big ol round ears are wonderful.

And my next three suggesting…

3. Common Genet coloring - These guys have a 3 colored coat with an accent that combines spots and stripes! The best of both worlds!

4. African Civet coloring - Okay so I have a love of spots and stripes but this one has a neat mask and a very different gradient in their fur that would make for a unique top coat as well.

5. Bloodhound-based breed - Something powerful with a big nose and long droopy ears! They can be majestic in their own right!

Patterns: Thylacine, Polkadot (dalmatian or cheetah), and Piebald (or Vitiligo).

As for the breeds: I think something with a short stubby tail would be cool! It could have a bigger body build and focus entirely on damage output in combat. It could also have longer front limbs to give it a slightly upwards posture, almost werewolf-like. An additional detail if you aren't afraid to experiment with fantasy themes: very small tusks :)

A breed with long, pointy, sideways-leaning ears, an elongated neck and long, bracchus-like legs. The fur gets denser around the neck and thins out as it goes down. I could doodle something like this when I'm home and update my post, but it's meant to feel like the elf of wolf species!

And lastly, a breed with short hair and a sleek body, somewhat resembling the ancient Egyptian god Anubis in his jackal form. Apparently there is a dog breed called the Pharaoh Hound which looks very similar to what I have in mind :)

+1 for all the Hyena suggestions!

Breed idea

- Wolfdog breed (most likely was the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog
- Phoenix wolf breed (Phoenix with wolf)
- Tailed wolf breed (just like kitsune or nine tailed fox, but a multi tail wolf)
- shark wolf breed (wolf and shark)

Adding my support for a Hyena breed- especially spotted hyenas, with matching patterns!

I'd also love a legend based creature inspired by la bête du Gévaudan- the general consensus was that it was a MASSIVE wolf, but accounts described it as:

It had an elongated head similar to that of a greyhound, with a flattened snout, pointed ears, and a wide mouth sitting atop a broad chest. The beast's tail was also reported to have been notably longer than a wolf's, with a prominent tuft at the end. The beast's fur was described as tawny or russet in color but its back was streaked with black, and a white heart-shaped pattern was noted on its underbelly.

I think it'd be neat to have a “Not Quite Wolf” based on a legend/cryptid!

Supporting Shiver and u would love to see a direwolf or a devilhound breed. Direwolf would be fluffier than most and larger while devil hound would have little mist ccoming Off from their feet and their manes

Breed suggestion: Dire Wolf

Not a scientifically accurate dire wolf mind you, but one that looks more like what we first think of when we hear “dire [insert animal]”. A large, bulky, and intimidating ice age canine with a thick coat (could even throw in some exaggerated saber teeth for good measure, because honestly why not, they're cool).
