I agree - I don't have all that much time usually to grind for WWs and this doesn't feel worth it… I'd rather have more encounters, even if that seems weird, instead of less encounters and 100 tokens.
I don't think it was necessary to increase the WW encounter rate. Previously I was already barely getting 1 encounter per 1000+ energy. There were instances of constantly clicking for an hour or so with no encounter. This feels like a bad joke.
No real reason for the 15k pebble sink either, people are already struggling this early in the game that introducing another sink now is not a good idea with the economy unbalanced.
Considering the rate of encounter even previously & 100 token requirement, this needs strongly feels like it needs a rebalance. Players would probably feel it more acceptable if encounter rates were reverted & perhaps a 20-30 token charge. You already have a 5-10% rate of befriending a wolf, there's no point frustrating your player base more.
Alternative is to increase your befriend rate of wolves to something like 40% from the current 5-10%, on a nerfed encounter rate if you want it that rare and on the new system, perhaps then 100 wouldn't feel like a punishment.
supporting the idea of 1-5 tokens per wild wolf fail dropping, as well as a cost of more like 30 tokens needed for 1 wild wolf success guarantee. I'd even think 50 tokens needed would be fine if the change of 1-5 dropped per fail was implemented.
100 Knucklebones is a LOT to get, especially at reduced encounter rates. While it's true we need a bit to see how this pans out, if people were getting ON AVERAGE a wolf for every 10 encounters, then having Knucklebones makes it a wolf for every 100 encounters, on top of reduced rates? Why were they reduced at all? There's no reason for that if you want the system to take 100 encounters, especially if we were already getting them in 10- which is what many people found painful to begin with, because rng causes that number to jump drastically depending on your luck.
If the number is going to be 100 for the mission, then either the rates for Knucklebone drops need to be raised (5-10 or so per failure would be great) OR keep the WW encounter rate the same as it was. The hunting mission should be a nice goal to strive for if your luck is bad, not a painstaking month long trip that's slower than it could've been if nothing happened at all.
I think that the wild wolf encounter rate at least needs to be restored to what it was. I thought that the knucklebone tokens were going to reward those who had worked hard and not been able to get lucky enough to befriend very many wild wolves! Now, with less encounters, how are you ever going to earn enough of these tokens to be able to even play the Wild Wolf Hunt? It kind of feels like you are trying to reduce the overall amount of wild wolves entirely. Particularly to those of us who can't play every waking hour of the day! Is that the end game?
100 feels like a lot, but it's been what, less than an hour since the patch? I don't think that's enough time to make definite judgments at all yet. We need to know more like sustainability of food/how much it got nerfed (for example, grinding for 1 day previously was enough to give me 3 days worth of food which is clearly excessive), how much the encounter rate was nerfed, etc.
While I would definitely immediately support lowering it to 30-50 instead (because 100 just feels overwhelming, and increasing drops to RNG detracts from the “this is your guarantee” goal), I think that everything else should be waited on to see numbers and figures rather than kneejerk reacting.
Support changing it back to the way it was with encounters, lower token cost, PLUS all of the campaign food encounters. Nerfing the food to be no longer feasibly farmable means that the encounter rate is now even harder for casual players who can’t spend 5 hours grinding elsewhere for the necessary stamina to get an encounter. This update feels more like a punishment than a reward :(
Support. It was already hard to get wolves, and now it’s even harder?! Even harder to grind and you need to get 100 tokens for a wolf now?? That’s insane now with the lower Encounter chance.
From what I have seen, getting food is very easy in high stage levels (fourth goldsea level in particular gives me plenty food with moths alone), I havent tested the lower levels thought.
I also very much agree with the lowering of encounter rates being excessive especially when 100 knucklebones and 15k pebbles is not an easy task to gather. I have went through around 40 minutes of grinding with only 2 encounters which leaves little to no chance of getting a ww.
