Maybe this is a personal gripe, but I'm noticing a lot of users on site using the custom pronoun fields for statuses and it gets very confusing for me because I can't tell who is using them as pronoun fields and who is using them for statuses or other info.
I'd like to suggest that this be discouraged in favor of implementing a custom blurb slot underneath where users can input that information instead.
Here's a mockup of how I think this would look in the forums:
Huge support. I had very briefly a cute little blurb but removed it, because it felt like it could be taken as making fun of custom pronouns and I didn't like that (It said “potato” I often call myself a potato. Or a goblin.) Both would be awesome. And if someone doesn't put anything in the pronoun field, it should leave a blank space there, to prevent confusion like you mentioned.
I agree, because I want to have a little fun thing but I also don't want to misuse a box meant to make the site more inclusive.
