Ive played so many over the past 10-15 years or so... but since I've gotten back into them, besides LW, the main ones I play now are FlightRising, ChickenSmoothie, EggCave, Pixel Cat's End and Poppy Seed Pets.
Ive tried Wolvden, Rescreatu, Sylestia, Ovipets, Dragoncave, Pokefarm, etc. and ended up getting confused on figuring it out and getting overwhelmed, or losing pets somehow! Dx
I wanna try Lioden but I have heard that it is very difficult to learn and I struggled with Wolvden day one lol!

Aww man I love these kinds of games. Neopets is a life long special interest of mine. Not happy about the current state of that site right now so I moved on to a clone called Grundos Cafe. It's very nice, mimics the site pre 2007 but with QoL updates!!
oh gosh chickensmoothie... i was religiously on that for some time
i loved sites like felisfire, ovipets, there's this one website i'm forgetting but at one point it broke and it became completely unusuable which was super sad bc it was so cool!
edit: someone else brought it up and i found it, misticpets!! still sad over this one
so many of these i've played, too, woah
Oh man, Misticpets. The owner randomly vanished; I think there was some sort of drama involved but I could be wrong about that. It’s really sad— I joined in 2007 or 2008? I’d have to check, but the owner used to be super passionate about it. I played a lot as a kid and had written stories about my pets there. So many classic pet games are dying and I hate it. :(
More people should try Warrenz, it's got very few users but it's cool
I've played Warrenz before, it's a cute bunny sim. I've also played CE, but I've found that as a whole they were very unprofessional, and not very kind to the LGBTIA+ community. They were also very lax on copyright, and often used references as getting as close to a thing as possible without plagiarizing. There's a Dev Art post with some proof floating about.
I Mod Keepers of Eniv, which is an ARPG where you can create your own characters. It's currently in development and has a pretty chill community. being able to play entirely for free as well is also fantastic. There's no reason to buy the premium currency, unless you DO want to support the site
Like most people on the thread it seems, I'm active on FR, and check in on Pixel Cat's End on occasion. I recall a chicken game I used to play, I also used to be on Ovipets, but the fact they die, is... less than ideal, and I've also played Rescreatu as well.
Neopets was my first foray into the virtual pet genre when I was like… 8 years old? And I’ve played it on and off for years and years ever since, actually getting super into it during college, but now I don’t remember my login info haha.
Otherwise I’ve played Subeta, Marapets, the little dragon game where other people click your eggs to hatch them (I forget the name), Dappervolk, Flight Rising, Lioden, Wolvden, Felisfire, and now Lorwolf and Pixel Cat’s End.
I’m partial to games that don’t require daily logins and don’t involve my critters dying or running away - I don’t need that added stress :,)
I started on Neopets. I was a wolf/dragon RP kid. One of my irl friends had gotten me into petsims actually, the same person who taught me how to draw, too. We still talk occasionally and her dragon RP from way back in the day is still going, just on forums now. Over 20 years strong. If you play FR, you probably know her as Verridith or Blazeh.
So I played Neo for a long time, and then was on Wajas a very long time ago? I wanna say 15 years? I've tried getting back into it a few times but I think atp it's not for me. I played Tygras for a while(also like 15 years ago), left for a while, tried to come back and it was gone. FR I come and go from. I wanna go back, purge everything, and start over, but every time I open it i'm just like 'I have so much to do' and then just don't.
A lot of other petsims I've tried and just couldn't get into. I give things a chance but don't usually stick around. I've been more active on LW than any petsite in yeaaaaars tho.

Gosh I also always wanted to make my own pet site, I can do the art but trying to tackle the complexity of code is a lot, there used to be other sites that let you make your own pet site but they all shut down >:
