It’s so cool to see what games you’ve all played over the years! I see a ton of overlap with mine, and I think that’s so awesome!
I have played a few other virtual pet games. I play Goatlings, and a little bit of ChickenSmoothie and Dappervolk. I used to play FlightRising too.
Another Neopets start here!
At the moment I am only actively playing FR and LW, but I've had accounts on others. Not an exhaustive list, but:
ChickenSmoothie, Khimeros, Dappervolk, FurVilla?? (if that even counts, not actually a PET game), Webkinz, Wajas, Valley of Unicorns, Howrse, Leporidae, Sylestia, Dragon Cave, The Order of the Griffin, Lioden, Mweor, Indomita, BeastKeeper, Felisfire, Equiverse, Tygras, Dragonea, Aramii, Aywas, Exhibited, Rescreatu, Animal Acres, OviPets, and probably some other games I can't remember, lol.
In particular, I LOVE OviPets, but I keep forgetting it exists and then all my pets die. At some point I'd like to be able to afford plus so they can stay fed and safe, but until then, I'm trying to stay away from it so I don't get heartbroken over and over from losing my babies. DX
I started with Neopets, but haven't played that in years.
I'm now only semi active on Flight Rising, Dappervolk and Magistream.
I have been playing virtual pet games for over 20 years! My very first was Neopets back in its early days. I caught the bug and have been playing ever since!
My favorites, which commanded serious attention from me for a long period of time, have been Neopets, Subeta, Aywas, Lioden, and FlightRising.
I made serious friends playing Neopets and only finally completely left it after my very old accounts were stolen through an old email that had been stolen as well. I also made great friends on Aywas. It was a bit of a mess but I deeply enjoyed my little community there, as well as their yearly Scavenger Hunt event that was a week of crazy fun.
I have also played Pixpet, Chicken Smoothie, Kaylune, Marapets, Wajas, Rescreatu, Dappervolk, Furvilla, Novilar, Figment, PFQ, Gaia, likely others I am forgetting. I go by Ganymede most everywhere, though I have been Nova and perhaps other monikers here and there.
As an adult, I am proud to be able to support pet sites like Lorwolf now that I have the money to do it! I am currently watching & funding development of Mythaura and PawBorough, both of which I'm looking forward to. I still really love this type of game and always enjoy seeing what people invent next! Lorwolf has certainly innovated in many areas. It might have been the cleanest launch I've ever experienced.
As a bonus fact: credit for my favorite virtual pet EVER goes to the Jahra of Rescreatu! I adore them even though I don't really play the game anymore.
Started on Neopets, then Flight Rising, Dappervolk, and now Lorwolf!
I'm not active on DV anymore however. I still enjoy Neo and FR :)
Oh, yes! I've played virtual pet games since I was little. My first introduction to the genre was Webkinz, then Neopets. Since then, I've played everything under the sun. Tried Lioden and Flight Rising, don't like them. Wolvden, Gryffs, Sylestia, Dappervolk, Leporidae, Beastkeeper, Dragon Cave, WolfPlay, Goatlings, Chicken Smoothie, Wajas, Novilar, Furvilla, Marapets… the list goes on.
My current obsession (other than Lorwolf) is a site called Herd of Hounds, which I recommend if you love dogs. Definitely the most unique dog game I've found.
I played the minigames on Neopets during my early days on the internet, but I never showed any interest in actually registering and getting pets until years later (didn't stick around for long though). I also tried Marapets which was sort of a Neopets clone but didn't stick around for long either, too pay-to-win.
In 2011 (I was 12), I joined two sites: DragonCave and Dragonadopters (sense a theme?) and I loved both equally, but Dragonadopters a little more maybe. DragCave is still around today and I still have access to my account but I rarely play it, Dragonadopters on the other hand was shut down many years ago and it was a very emotional moment for me. DrA taught me pixel art to some extent, I made a lot of free requests on there by essentially "frankensteining" different sprites together to create new poses, and occasionally drawing my own lines (which I was terrible at), some of the art I've preserved but a lot has been lost to time.
I joined Lioden around its release (2013? 2014?), but its pay-to-win aspects were the absolute most irritating part of the game, especially since I was a young teen back then with no possibility of actually buying anything. I don't know if the game has gotten any better over the years but I'm not going back there.
In 2018, I found out that the developer of Dragonadopters had been working on a new petsite - Pixpet. I had outgrown these types of sites but registered anyway, right before the beta went live. Despite my lack of interest, when it officially released, I ended up grinding it so hard I'm still burnt out today, lol. Basically maxed out every possible aspect, and even got some rare unobtainable items (like staff plushies and "glitched" or limited items). I was even a Discord moderator up until 2020, but was forced to resign for IRL-related reasons. I occasionally check up on the site but I'm years behind their current progress, which is pretty ironic, lol.
Then in 2021... I joined Flight Rising. I know, loooong overdue, especially considering my huge love for dragons. I regret not doing it earlier, because I've been logging on every day since. Not so "outgrown", all of a sudden...
Now Lorwolf is my new favorite. I still log onto FR daily, but LW is more fun, maybe because it's a fresher experience, and I don't have to catch up with 8 years of history this time around :)
I can't believe it... I'm on a forum signature!!
