No support. Everything I feel about this issue has already been said by others. I particularly like Tserin's and siltfern's take on this.

No support, I'd much rather be able to have the option to toggle or untoggle offspring list display instead of implementing name restrictions.
Support. There's tons of alternatives to the default in-game moniker for unnamed lore wolves, and people who don't care can simply not name their pups before selling and this change wouldn't affect them at all. So I don't see why a ban would be a burden on players.
But for players that do care about offspring lists, the ‘one easy step’ they can take to avoid the issue is currently reversible. The workaround of avoiding trading entirely has the unplanned effect of reducing engagement with the social parts of the site which is a net negative. Since wanting to avoid unnamed wolves in offspring lists is a common sentiment, the possibility of it becoming a vector for retaliatory action is an unfortunate possibility, and the moderation burden of determining the rare cases where it is a targeted action over an unintended one is not an easy task should the issue crop up.
The suggestion to have the option to hide an offspring list is a good one in and of itself*, but for the ‘unnamed issue’ specifically it's just a lick of paint and not a fix. Another option could be to change the formatting of unnamed wolves, instead of giving them the specific name of ‘no name’ they have nothing in the name space and it's formatted in a way that makes it clear that there's literally no name assigned, but that would probably overcomplicate things.
I guess my main take is the default in-game way of highlighting a wolf as not yet being named is not one that should be assignable by the player in my opinion. Since the game currently uses an actual name ‘No Name’ to signify this, then I don't think that should be a name that's assignable by the player. If the default in-game way was just a blank square or something then I'd be arguing that a player shouldn't be able to reverse a named wolf back to the blank box state.
*Seriously I like this idea a lot. Especially for when offspring lists start getting real long. If this is ever made as a separate suggestion post, poke me and I'll go put my support for it.
If people don’t like seeing No Name or Nameless in lists perhaps we should just list puppy id numbers on the list instead. Would solve the name issue all around.
As much as I don't like No Name on my offspring lists, I can't support this. People should be able to name their wolves whatever they want.
What I do support is giving players more control over how offspring lists are displayed. Synesthesia above had a great idea for ID#s to be displayed. I also like the idea of collapsible offspring lists. I think there's a solution here that can make everyone happy enough. Toggles are something that I see suggested often in pet games but not always implemented. I wonder if they're hard to code. But the issue of offspring lists seems to always be present so ideally we'd be given options. Maybe “full” for name and ID together as it is, ID only, and none/collapsed? Just throwing spaghetti.
Anyway, no support for taking away No Name, but support for some other solution.
Unfortunately I can't support this, and agree with many of the points against it.
I also want to point out, say “No Name”, “Nameless”, or “Unnamed” are banned - what's to stop people from putting random nonsense as a name? “HDJDHFHSHD”, “JFFJFHJDDH”, “aaaaaa”, “bbbbb”, “123456”, and so on.
If the solution is “ban those too” then I'm afraid that's something of a slippery incline.
^ That too. Even if those names are filtered or banned, people can still name them rudely or in ways they believe the breeder will specifically dislike. You can't stop people from naming a wolf “fart” or “buttface” and it wouldn't really be sensible to ban words we think sound too rude or silly since that list would just keep growing as people complained.
no support.
i absolutely understand the sentiment, however once a wolf leaves your den, what is done with it is out of your hands. people should be able to name their wolves whatever they want. a wolf being called ‘nameless,’ ‘unnamed, ‘no name,’ etc. could be interesting for a player's lore. the only names that should not be allowed are swears, slurs, offensive terms, and things of that nature.
banning variations of ‘unnamed’ does not solve the issue of ugly offspring lists, as pointed out above by VioletCryodill. they will find ways around it, the best course of action is to just name wolves before they leave your den; anything that happens after is out of your hands.
i would absolutely support being able to hide the offspring list however, or even hide specific wolves from it.
No support. If you don't want someone to have control over your offspring lists, then don't breed or sell the puppies you do breed. The Terms of Service also outright have a rule where you can't dictate how others play, and trying to restrict harmless names I feel does fall under that.
That being said, if you're worried about people deliberately going out of their way to buy your puppies to name “No Name” knowing that it bothers you, you could probably report them for harassment. I'm not a moderator so I can't say that for certain, though.
i don't support the idea of banning names (unless they are slurs and such), but i do support more offspring-list customization (be it a “numbers only” display option or a selection of which wolfs are displayed).
