My wolf is just chillin in the mines when I still have 5 extra slots. Those 5 slots are ones I bought.
I've noticed to that if you buy the slots while the wolf is travelling towards the mine or already mining, it won't actually count the slots until you go back, smelt the ore and then go back to mining again.
