The Arboria Coalition
“Where we come from…was a land of neverending greenery and boundless life. In a moment of weakness, the maw of chaos latched on, sinking its venomous fangs deep into the earth. Instantly, all was lost-- swallowed whole by madness. Those of us who remain now wander the lands, always searching for our true home; that which was denied to us, taken many centuries ago.”
The Arboria Coalition is a nomadic group of allied packs spread across Loria, originating from the remnants of Mistvale's fall hundreds of years ago. The founding members felt partially responsible for their God's sudden descent into madness; believing they could have done something to prevent the cataclysmic outcome. In order to repay for their inaction, the Founders swore an oath to keeping the peace across the continent by killing off the spawn of chaos.
As the chronicles of the Coalition's deeds were recorded by their scribes, so too were the tumultuous changes in leadership. Every shift in power brought variation to the mannerisms, direction, and even morality of the pack-- slowly pulling the members apart until the only thing they shared was the banner they fought under. Eventually, an event came to pass that is now known by the packs as ‘The End of Waiting’, which drove many off to pursue their own new aspirations. This event cut the coalition's population by half, throwing their ranks into a state of chaos and pulling the packs into a downward spiral.
During the hard years after the mass exodus, many records were lost on the ancestral trails due to the lack of proper transportation. With the sudden lack of resources, the Arboria Coalition was on the brink of extinction; what was once a sizable community had shrunk to only a few families, still holding true to the oath passed down to them. The packs wandered the lands, fighting off the creatures of chaos whenever possible in the hopes of retaining peace in Loria.
Reserving a spot here that I can collect all my writing pieces and short stories in one place. I write snippets at a time, and often they are chronologically all over the place, so I'll be organizing everything here as I go.
The Arboria Coalition is currently very small, but in due time it will expand into six separate packs;
The Tangled Roots are where all growth starts. This is the main pack, the largest and most reputable. A generalist pack, most wolves here have varying strengths that are diverse enough to provide, protect, and organize their own. Delegation and pursuit of knowledge are valued assets here. Many start in this pack and choose a more specialized offshoot as they mature.
The Shrouded Leaves grow quick, channeling energy to the Coalition and making sure everyone has plenty. This pack has an agricultural focus, and is the least nomadic of the five. Wolves who don't feel useful in battles of strength or wits will often lead more relaxed lives here, while still supporting the cause through farming, fishing, and hunting.
The Twisted Vines spread and ensnare, extending their reach into the unknown. This pack is focused on ground-based exploration and combat, seeking out the monsters of chaos of their own accord. Only the most daring wolves opt to join, knowing full well that their last moments will likely be in battle with the never ending flood of enemies. Despite this, or rather because of it, many of the hardened warriors of this pack are jovial and eccentric, wanting to make the most out of the time they have.
The Gnarled Branches protect and shield, offering shelter to the many creatures of Loria. This pack is comprised of first response medics and talented warriors, seeking out those afflicted by the monsters of chaos in the hopes of providing aid. The altruistic wolves that make up this pack seek to spread peace through care and healing, though they are also fierce warriors when they are needed.
The Adorned Petals draw in support through their intrinsic beauty. This pack is made up of artists, musicians, tailors, and potters. These wolves are the commerce hub for the coalition, and are vital to establishing trade relations with other packs across Loria.
The Scattered Seeds are a unique pack of airborne wolves, with their members exhibiting striking bird-like features. This pack plays to their strengths, acting as scouts and messengers as they cover great distances across the skies. They are a recent addition to the Arboria Coalition, having fled their home territory when it was engulfed by the forces of chaos.
