I got 3 of these from a particularly difficult hunt and I was wondering if they had a use? If they're so rare that I've never seen them before until I did a level 10 treasure chest hunt, and they were the only reward from the hunt besides experience, I'm hesitant to sell them in case they're useful.

There are a lot of trinkets that aren't used for anything. My advice would be to look at the sell for price. A lot of trinkets (all the gems, for instance) exist to be sold for pebbles. If the sell price is pretty high, it's probably just a trinket to be sold. But also, this post here has a catalogue of item uses. You can go to the hunting items to see which ones are needed for hunts. I don't see Obsidian Starts listed, so I don't think they have a use.

I've been wondering about this because it's the only thing you get from the level ten hunts, and they don't sell that high. I feel like if there's not another use planned for them (maybe high level crafting recipes?) then either the reward should be increased or the sell price should be. It's not even 3k pebbles if you sell the three stars, and that seems really really low for the cost. 200 food, full energy on probably at least three wolves, plus the item you need to do the hunt, plus the two hour time sink! I've been hoping I'll get something else from these hunts but I've done four and it's always just the stars
