The other disciplines seem to be good ways to get food, but I'm just wondering about Mining. You get bars, which can be crafted into Mining tools, which can be used to Mine faster, but other than an occasional Moonstone shard or activity fulfillment, do you ever get anything from Mining that is useful to other gameplay? I'm just wondering because right now it doesn't seem worth it to feed my miner to level up faster, but I want to know if I'm wrong about that.

imo it's mostly useful because you get materials to craft apparel, like all the armor sets! If you don't care about that it's probably not super worth it

Building off what Luke said, you can craft apparel and items, then sell them in the Flea Market to turn a profit if you don't necessarily plan to keep/use the items yourself.

Mole Market has recipes to buy that you use in Crafting to make many of the apparel items.

The metals from Mining can be used to make the bar/cuff/penny earrings, nose rings and eyebrow piercings in whichever metal as well as armor sets (spaulders, gorget, backplate, sword, helmet, and greaves) in all metals.

Leveling mining will unlock some Campaign scenarios at around 35 and can get you the Rockbreaker Ox companion.
