I do have to agree on others concerns with the polling, I have seen other sites fail largely due to polling. Limited would be better in this case, but I have also seen my fair share of games failing due to staff not heeding their players advice. Glares at Wildworks Ceo and Fer.al

Anyways, I wish the staff the best of luck and I look forward to what you present.

I think a polling system could be nice, but I don't think clicking on a dot from three options should be the only way that the votes should be counted?

All I'm suggesting is to have a low, yet moderate enough barrier of entry to be set so that only those who pass that barrier could make their vote count, or make their vote count more…? Let user's voices, than user's number be heard more ^^.

Maybe, instead of just picking a dot from x options, why not have a confirm button- or an optional “why did you choose this option?” prompt that could be given/answered before a user hit confirm or send?

That way the developer could know what kind point of view that that user came from, and why one user or the other leans more into this option and what knot. Maybe a blend of option is better than a binary? Discussions are lovely than 123s.
(Also a way for the devs to view the no-reason vote outcome, a filter to only include the reasoned votes, and then another one (main one) to view ALL, both reasoned or unreasoned votes together, just to see how similar the votes then are? And then a sort option to see vote-reasons by character-count could maybe help in sorting the decision out?)
(Character-count doesn't mean the vote is worth a hundred points or anything- I know spiteful rants could get long and destructive from time to time. But, not all long posts are like that! They're just, food for thought for human reasoning/thinking?)

Edit: Alternatively, a minimum character count could also be implemented. But I also wouldn't mind letting users say: Oh, I just like it- as a reason. I think that should count as a reason, as short as it may be!
(Or, maybe a better yet more complicated system is to filter votes by character count? So- no reason-given could be 0 while shorts are here, long are here, med/averaged-out responses are here instead? For devs only to view, of course!)

It really depends on what the voted feature is though. If it's something minor, I'm sure it wouldn't make that big of a ripple effect into the game. But, I think more thought-out or carefully reasoned vote should be considered for big changes than a simple, hehe, I clicked on an option (while maybe, I don't know what's really going on or who this will disadvantage kind of new, extreme or undereducated vote…?) ^^.

Though, that's just my opinion!

On the other hand, I think a WW token would be amazing! I wouldn't mind a 1:10 exchange rate. Any higher and I think that's just to much for me to handle, considering how a user's spreadsheet has been dataing these encounter rates, ah!

It really depends on how much the devs want to value and make WW common! But I wouldn't mind getting more lovely pups into the game (and to participate in the breeding aspect of the game more :o), especially with how long breeding is taking thus far- for me, a new player, at least!

It's a shame that coin-WW and encounter-WW are pretty much the same? And I don't really want to create a new market or make an, imo, elitist “truely” wild WW subsection into the game either. But the hard work or just random luck of actually getting a WW from the wild could be a user-achievement instead (with normal or higher-ish rewards, but nothing absurd)? Since, I'm sure only a completionist would actually want to challenge themselves to obtain WW from the wild and to have some record of it shown to people!

I think that way, there isn't a split in the WW market which is already highly-sought for anyways, and that all WW are special in their own ways (while some are just more special, but not in any tiered-WW way. Just some good color combo, genes, anything that makes a normal pup more desirable/good-looking rather than a WW's already-complicated and special enough way(s) of obtaining).

looking forward to the achievements system. some extra stuff to work on while i procrastinate wolf projects is appreciated

for polling system id be happy to see the option to comment beneath a poll, which will allow users to voice why they chose an option and hopefully give you guys more of an insight into what players want specifically, and still be able to see where the majority of community stands.

I worry about a polling system, it heavily depends on how it's implemented and what it's used for, but the players aren't always right. and also I imagine seeing that a feature or thing that you really wanted was on the table at all and it not getting it because other users decided they didn't want it would be really frustrating, and I could see it devolve in a lot of arguments and rants.

I also worry if the devs ultimately decide not to do something in a poll and people using the fact that it won as a reason to dogpile and try to peer pressure them into making it. For reasons like that I think that the poll should be completely anonymous and only revealed if a feature is made from it.

right now the only thing I can think of a poll working fine with no problems for is voting for what features items get worked on first, not what features are made.

While the idea of polls sounds interesting I do want to add on my warnings that it could potentially backfire. There is a certain horse breeding site that shall not be named lol that did this. Allowing players to vote on which aspects of the site should be prioritized. And while it worked at first, it added to player animosity when goals weren’t achieved quickly enough, or when aspects of the site changed, that then affected the chosen result of the poll being pushed back (sometimes without a date given until when).

This, added onto other player concerns last year, which came to a tipping point that caused a revolt in the discord that caused the entire discord to be shut down. To this day the discord is only used to notify for news updates, and many old players have left the site.

Polls can work, but only really do them if you 100% plan to implement the outcome.

Echoing the concerns that have been raised with regards to polling. While easy to count, it doesn't necessarily give the best image of what the community wants at large. A good example is Flight Rising, where they held a poll for the piebald and paint genes. There were 3 options. 1 won, because they had more votes than option 2 and 3 (separately, not combined), bút the majority of people who voted 2 would still have preferred option 3 to 1. Same with those who voted 3, they would've preferred 2 to 1. So in the end, 1 was the least popular option of all three options available, but it just happened to have more ‘first choice’ votes than 2 and 3. (And, IIRC the difference was really incredibly small!)

In general I've always been more of a fan of qualitative data than quantitative. As seen in the scenario described above, important nuances are easily lost in numbers, whereas qualitative arguments, can really help shape things into the best they can be. It will be more time consuming to process it all, but honestly it is the best for the future of the site, to take a less quantitative approach in these cases. The suggestions forum is a gold mine of good arguments and ideas. Use it well!

Agreed with people's concerns for polling! :O

I think instead of “if something wins a poll it's guaranteed”, polls should be used to gauge player's interest, but should not guarantee that outcome if the devs ultimately decide it would be for the best without it. And to write that disclaimer on every poll.

Polls should also always involve conversation and the users' thoughts and (civil) arguments on the choices. I personally think a written response should be required when voting in a poll, but maybe that's a hot take. Regardless, there should be more than one avenue of hearing out players while still taking what we want with a large grain of salt!

Here's to seeing the site grow, and I wish the team the best <3

Edit: Actually, maybe the poll results shouldn't be publicized if there's a concern of users being overbearing about the results. I know half the fun of polls is everyone seeing the results, but given that it's specifically for player feedback to the devs, I think it's justifiable to make the team more comfortable!
