I have exactly zero idea how feasible this would be to code as it would involve introducing a whole other element into how colors work, and I also don’t really know how many other people would actively want this because it would make breeding projects less challenging and therefor good color combos less rare but:
Perhaps having values (i.e. light and dark) assigned to each color and assigning a certain chance of an offspring inheriting a gene’s value and tone.
For example, if both parents have “light” unders, their offsprings having a 75% chance of also having light unders and If one parent has a “dark” under and the other parent has a light under it could be 50/50.
I find the value of the colors to be maybe even more important than the tone and looking at potential offspring, other’s pups, and wolves listed in the flea market, I find myself thinking that it’s such a shame more of them didn’t have values more similar to their parents.
For sake of simplifying this I would guess it would be only light and dark and no middle values. I’m assuming adding even just what I’ve suggested would be quite an undertaking!
Again, I really have no idea if anyone else would want this or how feasible this would be, just a thought, please don’t hurt me.
