@Felius It's randomized and not guaranteed one way or the other to ensure a recruitment. For my own enjoyment I've started referring to days as “It's a bark/wag day" depending on what seems to be a more frequently successful recruitment. If you check out the latest dev update (see the banner at the top of the site marked Attention) you can see,

. . . we've been hard at work on the Wild Wolf befriend feature. Once finished, players will be awarded a Knucklebone Token after a failed Befriend Wild Wolf scenario. These tokens can then be exchanged for a free, randomly generated Wild Wolf. We hope this alleviates some concerns about the low rates of success for this scenario.

@Mapleshade They weren't kickstarted items as far as I'm aware, but were available from support bundles pre-launch. I believe they will periodically cycle through the Mole Market, just as the related companions from the bundles have (the Lapistrix and Ignatus). This is the same case in regards to the Enderlings and the glowing eyes apparel and banners, as those were also available as support bundles but are available in the Mole Market rotation.

Speaking of pack bundles, were the leader mantles Kickstarter? I had them from the flea market during early access, but they don't seem to be in the mole market.

Yup, the mantles are KS items. During EA and Beta players were more relaxed about selling and trading them out to players since the site would be reset but with full launch it'll likely be steeper cost-wise to get your hands on them.

Is there any way to edit your first wolf? I was working on two different tabs comparing colors and I saved the wrong one. :( I just wanted to make an extremely minor color change.

How long does it take for a puppy to grow up? I have a breed change I want to use on one but I read that you can't use them on pups.

@Lyeaux - Currently the only way to edit your first wolf is with besprinklers. There is no way to edit individual genes, or further specify colours after it has been submitted

@ZoranaDragon - Puppies take 7 days to age up.

Is there a way to embed items with mouseovers in posts like on Flight Rising? I'd like to do that for setting up a custom apparel shop.
