The first pups to be born are only hours away (well maybe a lot of hours, but still). We still don't know exact rarities, but I aim to conquer that by collecting enough data. Obviously we have some idea that Lupin≈Jocol≈Kit>Zerda>Volmyr>Bracchus, with similar assumptions for pattern rarity, but getting exact numbers would be more useful. As a guess, to get approximately accurate numbers, we'll need at least a few dozen responses for the rarities that are “next” to each other, and possibly as many as a few hundred responses to compare the far ends of the rarity spectrum. (Assuming my estimates are about right and rates are unchanged from Early Access). More data is better though and will help us get more accurate numbers.
It'll probably take a few day after the pups are born to get enough data and analyze it, so if you'd like to be informed when we have numbers, just say something in this thread and I'll add you to a pinglist. The survey also has an option to add you to the pinglist after you submit a response.
For the sake of being reasonable and not making submitting your litters too tedious, a few assumptions have been made about the breeding process. If significant anecdotal or statistical evidence emerges to contradict these assumptions, I may re-address them in the future. Most of them should be detectable, but would need a much larger data set.
Assumptions:
- Within the color range of a pair for a particular color slot, all possible colors are equally likely
- All colors are inherited independently, and have no influence on the odds of one another (i.e. Getting the Indigo for 4 slots doesn't effect your odds of getting Indigo in the fifth slot)
- Breed and every pattern is inherited independently, and have no influence on the odds of one another (i.e. Getting Stripes for the Accent and Under slots doesn't effect your odds of getting Stripes in the Top Slot)
- Every puppy in a litter is determined individually and have no effect on one another
- The sex of the parents has no effect on any aspect of the puppies (i.e. A male Lupin and a female Zerda would have the same offspring as a female Lupin and a male Zerda)
When your litters are born, I'd like to encourage everyone to fill out the survey. Every litter should be submitted separately. Also, if you've changed any aspect of your wolves after breeding, use the information from when the parents bred, not the from when the puppies were born:

It goes without saying but please do not submit responses until your pups are born.
