Holiday Events

Lorwolf will benefit from holiday events, like the elemental festivals on Flight Rising- or the Site-wide events on Lioden. Monthly would be great- but not necessary I suppose.

It would be great to have something to look forward to every so often, something to log back into LW for to properly engage and try to get some new collectible items that are limited/somewhat limited. It will be good for the game as a whole. If it comes with new quests and such that would be even better as a break from the monotony that maybe doesn't need to be as thought out as an expansion to the main campaign.

Only if the collectables, etc come back each fest if it repeats, and is obtainable somehow outside that.

I really dislike the whole, this item is retired stick. Kickstarter items are one thing? Normal gameplay items are another.

I'm sure they will be added over time, but if there's a room for suggestion I think it would be great to have something season-themed and pack-themed. I'm really looking foward to Lorwolf holiday events, they are my favourite part of other sim games :)

- They've actually said that beyond the things that are already retired, they won't be retiring any more items, so no worries about that.

No support. Regular holiday events always come up with the same problems: people are away from home/with family and can't participate, depending on the themes it'll either be too close to real-life holidays (and inclusion/exclusions could be a disaster) or be seasonal and ignore half of the world, and frequency issues.

Honestly, Lorwolf's current system of seven events rotated weekly is really good. Any one event pops up again in just under 2 months, so if you missed an event or didn't fully play you'll get the chance to enjoy it again soon enough. And they're tied directly to the professions, encouraging you to level in them and use them outside of regular gameplay like completing daily activities. If the event shops were beefed up with more event-exclusive apparel/recipes/companions/trinkets/etc for each week then we'd have more than enough things to be excited about. I wouldn't be against having holiday-themed items, but maybe they could be purchasable items during the Abundant Activities event.

@DetectRascal

I don't think the site should have to tiptoe around some people not being available for certain events. It's good for a site to have new things happen or semi-regular events because it's an escape from the same gameplay loop- the weekly rotations are good to have, but after a while they will be nothing special- just a reward for the same stuff we always do. and new items added to them will have to follow those profession-related themes. Over the weeks and weeks of playing, you'll get a surplus of these tickets and anything new you could purchase right off the bat without needing to participate. They're also frequent enough that none of these items will get to gain any value- so there's no real reason to want to grab any of them.

I enjoy the weekly rotation shop, don't get me wrong. But that's never going to bring swarms of people back to Lorwolf- it's not going to be that exciting.

I'm also not suggesting real-world holiday events, I mean fantasy wolf events akin to FR festivals- or even longer fantasy events like Lioden.

People like collecting things- and tempting people to come back and see the new holiday apparel etc would likely be helpful for the site. The items wouldn't have to permanently retire- but they should go away for a while, and I'm certain those who weren't available could just trade with other players for whatever it is they wanted!

Yes! I would especially love a once every 3 month fest for each clan! Right now there's nothing to direct any sort of clan identity to other than aesthetics and lore, having something to represent yours once a year(or if you're switching around multiple) would be lovely!

@Lai I bring up all the issues with holiday events because they're common issues I see. I remember when NoN on Flight Rising launched, a lot of people complained because the event fell as people were travelling or were away from their computers for the various holidays that fall in December. Admittedly this was ages ago, but I think the FR team had to adjust the event and the player base had to be given extra chests after the fact to make up for the poor planning/timing. If Lorwolf did the same of having an event in December, I'm sure the same complaints would pop up. And I'm sick of having “Winter Festivals” in the middle of summer, personally.

But like I said, I'd support a holiday event if it fell in the Abundance Activities week. Whether you purchase once-a-year items with abundance tickets, or that whole week is replaced with its own tickets that we see once a year. That's up to the dev team, but putting any holiday events in that slot wouldn't interrupt the schedule of the other events.

I support the limited idea of having maybe a holiday event during Abundant Activities week – if it's something that makes sense for users in every country, so no winter in the middle of someone's summer, and I also beg of you, devs.

If you do any real world holiday weeks. Please don't include Christmas unless every other major religion gets one religious holiday represented too … and that could be a lot of holidays depending on how you determine “major.” A break from being forced to engage with Christmas is always welcome to those of us who do not celebrate it. christmas is not secular. Thank you. /bitter jew

Clan celebration fests and fictional holidays sound fantastic, things that are completely in game! Just so long as there isn't one going on all the time, that got overwhelming on Lioden.
